Someone on the MCA forum said that he had a 2015 with spare tire. But the spare tire was 16 inches. He had a nail puncture and had to put on the spare. He said that even on the back the spare cause quite a bit of driving problems.

Is this a true story? Is the optional spare tire equal size? I have ordered 18 inch wheels (and spare tire)...big problem if the spare is under-sized.

From my pics of when I went to the dealer in August.

NEVER put a donut on the rear wheels of a 2015 Mustang. The difference in diameter will put continuous strain on the limited slip clutches and destroy them completely in about five miles. If you get a flat on the rear, always swap a good tire from the front to the back and then put the donut on front.

Doesn't apply on PP's, obviously.

I ordered one. Dealer told me Ford wasnt listing it as standard because then it has to count against weight and fuel economy ratings. He claimed that if you have roadside assistance it really isnt needed.

Yeah, tell that to me with Im in the middle of the Painted Desert in New Mexico with no cell service (which DID happen to me once). So yes, Im getting the spare.

Can anyone help me? I have a 2014 Shelby with 19"rims on the front and 20" on the rear. The spare that comes standard in Dubai is a 19" which does not fit in the spare well but occupies most of the trunk. I want to replace this spare with a donut that will fit in the well so I get my trunk space back but reading this thread I see there have been issues with fitting donuts clashing which clash with brake calipers. Any suggestions on what to buy in the USA that will work? My first puncture was a slashed sidewall so I am reluctant to buy a can of goo.

I'm not buying the first tank of gas on a 40k+ car....Won't ever happen if they want me to sign on the line.
I know I'm replying to an older post, but it reminded me of a funny incident that happened to me.
I had a 2013 Mustang GT convertible. Traded it in on a new Grand Cherokee. I took delivery right when the dealership was closing. The salesman sat in the car with me going over all the features and I failed to notice that the Jeep was at about an eighth of a tank. I noticed on the way home and called the salesman the next day. He told me I should have said something before signing the paperwork and it was too late for him to do anything. I went above him and they wouldn't budge.
The Mustang I traded in was sold a few days later. I still had the boot in the plastic unopened in my garage. I forgot all about it. The salesman calls me and says the guy that bought the Mustang wants to know if I still had the boot. I told him that I had it, but sold it to get some gas for the new Grand Cherokee.

The silence on the other end of the phone was deafening.

Buy it on eBay and save. I have some needs ahead of this one, but I have seen brand new spares in the ~$175 range. All in. I am selling old car parts or tools... Whatever looks good and I don't think I'll need it. Recycling the old to bring in new parts.
