Hey everybody,

i dont know if this has been covered before, please bear with me. I Used some polish and Wax on my Mustang wich supposedly wont leave any residue on the black plastic pieces (front splitter for example). Seems i was foolish to believe that, since i see quite a few white spots on the black plastic parts. Ive tried the eraser trick, but to no avail. Any idea as to how to remove the white spots permanently? These back to black trim restorer seem to do the trick only for some time if i understand it correctly?

thank you for your input!

I actually just got done doing this yesterday and got all my white spots out, but the way I did it was very scary because I got tired of thinking I got rid of them only for them to show up again. I actually used Goo Gone on a really small portion to see how it would work and if it would damage the splitter plastic. Luckily it did not! So I went around and and gently did it everywhere I had white spots and then rinsed with water, they are all gone now. Do NOT use on any other plastic parts on your car (like rear view mirror plastic, found out the hard way)

Pink eraser can also work.

Some folks use erasers. I like to use a good de-greaser and a good brush and scrub it out good. Just be careful on areas near your paint. It's a good idea to thoroughly clean the trim and coat it with something before waxing or polishing.

Those are some pretty good ideas, i didnt even know about goo gone. Im going to try that with a good brush, hopefully that will resolve the issue.

I actually discovered that Griot's Garage Paint Prep works pretty well for this - after all it is a product meant for removing wax and sealants from paint prior to polishing/waxing. But it worked great with a microfiber cloth, and revitalized the plastic to look like new.

I wouldn't use a brush, make sure to put the Goo Gone on a microfiber cloth and gently rub a small area for about 10 seconds, check, then go from there. I was able to get it all off the rest of the car in about 5 minutes
