For what its worth, I would rather have a GT500 than a supercharged Mach 1 w/ HP. I'd also rather have a C7 Z06 than a supercharged Mach 1. Tough call on C7Z vs GT500. Depends if you need back seats. I think the GT500s are similar priced if you compare 2019 Z06 to 2020 GT500. I wouldn't want a 2020 GT500 that was built during Covid so I'd have to buy a '21 or 22, which are more expensive than a Z06. I recall a lot of grumbling from folks on here about their early Covid built GT500s.

Z06 is 600 lbs lighter than a GT500 so any added hp goes further. They are both capable of similar 1/4 mile times at a drag strip bone stock (10s). Z06 probably a little quicker on the street at low speeds due to better front/rear weight distribution (50/50 vs 56/44) and lighter weight.

Don’t do it, the Mach 1 was the Stang to buy 21-23, imho the best non Shelby they’ve ever given us. That being said the GT500 is a great car, but you’re old school like a lot of us on here and a manual is where it’s at nothing for the street compares to that feeling. The GT350 and GT350r are awesome in their own way, but I never wanted to deal with a motor that’s trying to tear itself apart, I’m sorry for saying that, because I know the guys that have them covet and love them.

Have a 2015 GT Auto convertible with lots of mods and whipple with 650 hp on the rear wheels.
Have a bone stock 2021 GT 500.
Love both cars but the 500 is such a well engineered package you can put the power to work much more effectively. It is much more stable and just has a cool factor.
I would vote to swap the Mach 1 for a GT 500.
Try to get a ride and chance to drive a 500 if possible.

After getting the chance to spend a little time around a CFTP, and being in it driven well in its natural environment (track) I would agree - there's so much more to it than just slapping on a supercharger and making WHP comparisons ... :like:

I think the Mach 1 is better looking than a 350, and I’d say it’s only a slight win cosmetically for the GT500.

Regarding performance, the GT500 handily walks the 6th Gen Super Snake with 850 at the crank in a straight line. That is all DCT. So I think there is a much, much bigger performance gap than people realize especially once you factor suspension in and you are driving it where you can realize those gains.

I’ve had both the base gt500 and now own the CFTP. If you go 500, imo the CFTP is worth springing for just from the handling side. The carbon wheels are incredible and add a an extra-cool factor to the car. Not many vehicles have them (yet).

Oil changes, are about 150 diy. 250 at a dealer who isn’t ripping you off.

Other random factors, the 500 has a more responsive engine than the 350R, due to the cross-plane vs. flat-plane crank. The gearing is a bit tall according to YouTube and I have to agree it’s a tad high but you kind of forget that because of how amazing it sounds.

Lots of opinions here. Only one matters. I wouldn't do any purchasing until you have some substantial seat time and make you own educated decision. Me personally love and want the set up you have and would NEVER give up my tremec.

Have to agree that the 5.2 L FPC Voodoo motor is so bad that present GT350/R owners are offering smoking deals on their vehicles just so they can get rid of them.

That is buying it myself. It's $25 for a 5 gallon jug of Mobil 1 or Pennszoil, and it cost me $8 for the filter. Bought them last weekend. My mechanic charges me $25 to do it.
What a nice mechanic. I hope his mechanical aptitude is better than his business acumen.

Yes, those 2-seat examples are the worst of the bunch with their values plummeting even more than the 4-seat models therefore you should have no problem locating 1 of the 3,647 R models at a very low price.

For years, I've wanted a Shelby GT350 or GT500. With my 50th birthday approaching this summer .....

However, I can't help but wonder if the GT500 would feel significantly different from what I already have with the Mach 1, or if it would essentially be a dual-clutch version of the same car.
It's NOT essentially the same car with a different trans. It's a completely different driving experience from the ground up. Just as much as the 350s are from either variation of the 500. That's my experience anyway. All 3 (M1/350/500) are all very different from the moment you touch that push to start button.

If you're emotionally attached to the Mach 1, you'll probably regret trading it. But if it's just a cool car... go celebrate your 50th with either Shelby. I'm guessing you'll be happy you did.

Good luck, and let us know what you do and how it goes. Happy early 50th. 🎂🍺🐍🇺🇸

What is the problem???? $25 is a fair price in my opinion?? I live in Jersey too, maybe you can stop by and use him also, I'll put in a good word just let me know.
It's not a problem. It's a great deal for you. It's basically free. It's just not a deal for him. That's why I said "what a nice mechanic"
