If I install a stage 1 Whipple on my 2021 GT, do I need to install anything else on the engine for protection? For example, on my ‘13, when I put on a sc, I had to install a billet oil pump gear.
what about suspension? Will the stock suspension handle 700hp?

All these questions are 100% answered with a little use of the search function. You'll get a lot more info that way than with high-level answers in a new thread.

Most people do opg and crank sprocket as a precaution anytime you add boost, best of luck man

Manual or auto? Oil pump gear and crank sprocket if manual. Not really necessary for the auto. A stop the hop kit or something similar will help. I've not done my suspension(that I have had since buying the car) and it handles 600ish whp well with a decent tire.

Because parts companies want to sell them those parts, not because you actually need them. Just to be clear

I bet you the amount of people who have a supercharger and stock oil pump gears is....90-95%

For all the people online looking up 'supporting mods' or having a shop sell them on things, you have all the dealer-installed superchargers, Shelby American cars, Roush/Saleen cars, people who don't want to spend money on anything extra...

I guess i should have said the opg and crank sprocket is more of a preventive messure that some people still choose to do when I responded I didnt mean it was something that must be done. I've never personally broke an opg or even know anyone that has but I did break a tooth off a crank sprocket n/a, and no i dont bang off rev limiter or slide my car like a clown

OP-I'm running 285s all around and has been fine, even on track. I'd do the IRS rear brace and something like the stop the hop kit. I added the IRS brace and made a noticeable difference in how the car handled and put down power. I have mag ride. So I left the suspension alone for now. I don't think anything but a drag tire is going to be able to put down the power better. Im on 285s all around. Which I feel the car needs at minimum at stock power levels. But I'm in Northeast so cant really run them or summer tires. It can be in the 40/50s in the morn in the summer here sometimes.

I've been on stock OPG for 2 years and 10K miles. 700+WHP. Manual on ESS. I'm changing headers and doing some other stuff this year and figured might as well do them this time. Never had an issue. But, I don't shift my car at 7k+ though. I'm not drag racing or chasing times. I just enjoy driving spirited at times. It was hard to fully use 500hp, let alone 7-800whp. So really don't need them. More condom theory-Rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Went with the boundary black OPG and sprocket. Got a good deal on it. Probs overkill. I'm pretty sure the OPG failures are from something else failing and then taking out everything.

Are you guys changing the OEM pumps out too? Anything else to do in there while its torn apart?

Lube the gears up well with some good assembly lube while you’re at it, so that they‘re not dry upon the initial start up. I added the MMR stainless mounting screws for the backing plate.

Be ready for a challenge on the Gen. 3, with having to raise the engine off the motor mounts to access all oil pan mounting bolts (especially the ones with studs). I also had to modify the arms on my crank puller to get it to fit. Lastly, I recommend a new oil pan gasket.
