The installer stripped one of the 8 bolts that hold the blower on. these are the ones that should be at 17ft pounds . How would you go about fixing this ... you can almost turn it with your hand... stage two gen three blower... please let me know your thoughts ...

Thank you... Do you know if it is a closed hole? If it is I was thinking about trying to run a tap through it.. it only needs to hold 17FP. but I don't want to do that if the shavings would end up in the motor...

Man, I am on the techs side 95% of the time giving them the benefit of the doubt in many cases having been on the front line in various lines of field service myself. When I have screwed up i have admitted it and resolved the issue. The same should be in this case. I see this as a blatant disregard for following direction. It is the shop's responsibility to make this right. Guessing I would conclude he was assembling with a cordless 3/8 or 1/4 inch impact and rushing the job rather than hand starting and doing the torque set in the proper sequence by hand. 17ft/lb is not a lot of torque and the low torque spec alone indicates some finesse should be applied in the assembly process. Therefore I see it as the speed shop/installer owes you a new intake or agree to send the intake out and have it properly repaired by a machine shop.

I know I am possibly jumping the gun here. But having turned wrenches for a very long time on many different types of industrial equipment this smells to me of a bum rush job attempt that has gone bad.

I wish you luck. I know that my speed shop would make this right without even giving it two thoughts. Best of luck to you.

The hole does dead end in the intercooler manifold. If you’re stripped already, you won’t have enough material to hold it especially being aluminum. You are gonna do what you do but just plan ahead and protect all local areas from shavings.
It’s a pain but my advice is to take the I/C manifold off the car and do the helicoil or the post above advice.

Who did the install? Did you tell them? Did they offer to fix?

yes, I told them and they helicoiled it... it is only 17fp I am sure it will hold up fine... they did it for free. I then paid for a smoke test to make sure there are no leaks... it passed...

I'm glad it worked out for you. When the NY weather gets a bit better you will have some fun. I'm waiting to get out there again soon myself.

They should have given you the smoke test for free. Glad you got it resolved.
