2019 Mustang GT
Gen 5 Whipple w/ Oversize HX
A few weeks ago I found a small coolant leak under the car, could see that the reservoir for the HX system was a little low, I looked over that whole system and couldn't find an obvious leak. So I went to open the reservoir cap and coolant exploded out of it like it was under a lot of pressure. As in, it shot up, if it hadn't hit me and the hood of the car, it would have gone 20 feet in the air. The car was completely cold, hadn't run in over a week. So, obviously I'm guessing the system was seeping some liquid due to the pressure, but I have no idea what's causing said pressure.
I contacted Whipple via email (apparently you can't call and talk to a tech anymore) and they basically told me that the only reason that would happen is if I put tap water in the system, which I absolutely did not do. The car has had the system installed for a few years with no issues up until now. So, I topped off the system with distilled water, burped it per their instructions and drove the car a couple miles. I parked it and there's that same small leak, so I'm at a loss. I was planning to just go and drain and refill the system, but I have doubts that will fix it.
Anyone ever encountered something like this?
