How does Whipple nail it with this tune the first time on every car. You always hear from others running some of the best mail order tunes (even Lund) that the startup tunes are off and cars run poorly and take many back and forth with data logging to get them right. We always hear the term "every car is different" and needs custom tuning to dial it in right? Not with Whipple, it starts hot cold drives OEM or better and mid to high loads are spot on. Are the others that far behind or am I missing something here. Even people running the house cals from others manufactures often have drivability, idle and starting issues. This is one of the main reason I went with Whipple was the overwhelming customer satisfaction with the Whipple cal. All I can say is they have met every expectation so far. My hats of to you Mr. Whipple.

I look at it this way and maybe I'm wrong but.....

The same engineer who writes factory Ford calibrations writes this tune. Some have argued with me that this is the wrong way to do it and EVERY modified vehicle needs a custom tune because they are all different.

I say piss on them because do you take a brand new vehicle off the lot and take it to a custom tuner because "every car is different"? No you don't. You drive it for its lifetime.

The engineer writing these calibrations knows exactly what going on and what is different between out cars the calibration adjusts on its own.

He writes these calls from the get go with FI written into it. It's not a NA calibration doctored to work on a FI car.

I am not a tuner and I do not know the ins and outs but this is what I've learned and combined with the two 2015 Whippled vehicles that I own which are performing and running like they came off the showroom floor I couldn't be happier.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Whipples tune is not to be confused with "can" tunes and should be considered what it is, professional custom tune that is second to none.

So I have a couple questions, maybe some with flare tool can answer when changing the octane adjust. I thought I had this right but appear Whipple tech dept says entry it's not working until the cal is reflashed.

This is what the instructions say and what I did

1. Flare program up and connected to canelope at OBD port.
2. Push start button once to connect to PCM.
3. Select the calibrations tab and turn on octane adjust it will show enabled complete.
4. The update is instant you only need to tune the key off for 5 seconds and restart.

This is the part I didn't do yet. Edit this was the part I was told to do by Whipple tech after, but it's not in the instructions?

4. Go back to main tab and select open file select the calibration form the Whipple cal folder.
5. Select program and it will reinstall the calibration, but I didn't see how this change got saved to the calibration, does it save automatically to the calibration in the folder when you select octane adjust?
6. Now does a crank relearn need to be done again?

Basically you have to open the file anytime you want to adjust anything.

Connect to computer, open file, change any setting that you want then install just like the first time you did it. That's how the tune gets saved to your current settings.

Any time you go to adjust things it's the same process.

Alright but this goes against what the instructions say and it also goes against what Dustin says how these features work in the flight control intro thread. He says the changes happen instantly and doesn't talk about doing a reflash.

This was taken from the flight control thread.

"Simply load your calibration, turn the key on and slide the Flight Control dials where you want it, wait 2 seconds and it's nowbit's utilizing it's virtue pulley software that mimics different pulley combinations"

Well I do not have the new cal as does anybody yet I believe so this is probably written into the new cal to work that way.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you do not have new cal with flight control do you?

No flight controls yet, but read the instructions I posted above for turning on the octane adjust. It says it happens instantly and only need to cycle the key much like what Dustin is saying with the flight controls. I'm waiting for Whipple tech to get back with me.

Then that's all you should do, follow Dustin's directions.

You could always confirm it took by driving or running the car and simply plug back in to see if the octane adjust is still active or in the position you switched it to the last time.

Let us know

Changes take effect immediately, key on engine off or while engine is running. You do not need to reflash.

Crank relearn does not need to be redone, only after a full flash.

Last sentence of the attached instructions says you must "turn engine off for 5 seconds. Engine is now ready to run" is this step not necessary?
