A lot of what you guys are describing to me sounds like burst knock,going wot under 3k rpms with a high load.Alot of systems will do this where tthe pcm pulls a bunch of timing when doing this.The knock sensors have an anticipation factor buillt in and when they see even a little knock.at high load low rpm the pcm rips timing out and most of the time will not add it back or add very little for the rest of that pull.If u don't pick.up knock going wot at a higher rpm then that is what s going on and I think is normal,depending on how high of a rpm u have to go to to not get knock.Power enrichment does a play a part in this also.
