Recently brought a stock 2017 mustang ecoboost. Should I run regular or premium gas? I’ve read you can run both but regular gives you less hp because of engine knock? What’s your guys experiences or knowledge?

Either is perfectly fine according to the manual. If you're going to track it, or drive it harder I'd run Premium so you can get a few more degree timing, but either way it's up to you and what your wallet allows.

Okay thanks!!
I had a 15’ EB. These motors tend to be a little picky in regards to octane and even brand. I tried running regular, once, and never again. The car felt just felt dead. It was my DD at the time putting on 300+ miles a week. When I was up north I used Shell. Here in MB I used Costco and never had an issue.

So try regular and see how you feel about it. Also try different brands of gas. Find the one that makes your car and you happy.

I use Mobil 93 for the Mustang.

For those saying they use above 91 octane, why? I thought the stock ECU was only good for 87-91. I can understand if you're tuned but could someone educate me on what 93 Octane and a tune can do?

The stock mustang computer will add timing up to 93 octane. I get 30 degrees on the stock tune with good 93 gas.

Most eastern states don't have 91, they have 93. I don't know why the western US gets shafted, but we do. Doesn't mean the ECU can't benefit from 93 though. You'll get some extra timing in certain situations.

I use Sinclair 91 almost exclusively. Occasionally Chevron.

The ECU can add or subtract up to 10* of timing from it's base timing tables, so it has quite a bit of headroom to gain power on higher octane gas than 91.

Higher octane also protects better against knock, especially in hot temps.
