Hi. I am looking to swap the metallic brake pads for a set of ceramics.
Advanced auto has a brand they sell under the car quest label. Are they any good, if not what can someone recommend. Thanks.

I guess no one here answers brake questions. I asked one with no response either.

Not sure about mustangs but I run ceramic pads on a 2002 F350 7.3 and also my much later model f250. I prefer the performance especially when towing.

I think they are ok depending on use but I would probably go with the Akebono pads.

...I was gonna reply to a Brake Pad thread but,
I haven't worn out a set yet, so no advice.

I did look to see if Lyndall Racing Brakes made a pad
for our cars so the dust build up would not be an issue.
Unfortunately they don't.
Only make for motorcycles..........................:sunglasses:

I don't know about car quest pads but I use Powerstop pads. Much less dust and great performance. Got them at RockAuto

Ours would be street use. Daily driven by 22 year old. Something that will hold up well and stop well. I will be replacing rotors and pads. Thinking of doing calipers too but don't know what the benefit would be.

"Hold up and stop well".....stock pads and rotors do that perfectly fine for street use. Does the stock system not meet your standards? It sounds like you want to upgrade just for the sake of upgrading. That's fine too; it's your money.
I'm just trying to judge what you're looking for.

He drives it hard... and a lot. We have already had to replace the stock rubber cradle bushings because 3 of the 4 had failed. Car has 80k miles. I want something I don't have to work on all the time. Seems once you start replacing parts with oreilley parts, it's a job that comes up every 18 months.

I'm very, very happy with the Powerstop Z23 pads on both my Performance Pack GT and my wife's C300 AMG Sport. A little less initial bite than the stock PP pads, which is preferable for heel/toe, but overall, about the same stopping power. FAR less dust. Like, orders of magnitude less dust. They're quiet, too.

Are the slotted and drilled pad and rotor sets on rock auto any good?

Depends. What brand are you looking at and which model?
Raybestos and Centric are good but make sure you get something with high carbon content in the rotors. If not, they will warp fast; ask me how I know

Kinda like Oreilley rotors on my f350... out of round on 9 months. You get what you pay for.

Thanks for the brands. Gives me something to look at.

I wouldn't run OE-replacement ceramic pads from any mass-market source. $50 pads will get you stopped, but aren't anything special, or suited for the kind of harder driving mentioned elsewhere in this thread. Bite can and frequently is inconsistent from one drive to the next (I've noticed this in a car that isn't mine).

Carbotech 1521/Bobcat or G-loc GS1 are far better alternatives, and well worth the extra money.
