Mine are not removable but they will be. The tips used to be chrome until I did a track day. They went gold on me. I'm planning to take them off and replace them with Corsa black removable tips. I'll now look at turn downs for an extra set for the track.
I hope there aren't any 'unintended consequences' arising from the use of such work-arounds. Meaning that if all it does is fool the sound meter (but not the nearby residents), you could end up with tougher sound restrictions (or tougher restrictions sooner). Or worse.Here is one way around it.
This is what has been done for the last 10 years. There are two sound meters on track and trust me, all the cars with these "work arounds" are quieter than their normal configuration. This is done at pretty much every track that has sound restrictions. We even run under he City required sound decibel reading.

If you have enough experience with other organizations at that track they may set you up as a provisional solo and an instructor will ride with you first time out. If you do well they'll sign off on your solo status. If you haven't visited the track than most likely solo won't be acceptable unless you have a bunch of track experience at various tracks.
