Ford Australia are only unloading in Melbourne as they want to do their own QA process on each and every Mustang arriving into Australia. Not sure about other states but for WA they will be sent to Perth via rail after that process is completed.
I mentioned the above to my dealer principal and he said, no, his cars are coming straight off the boat to him, so goodness knows whats happening when the cars arrive here. He is part of the Peter Warren Group.
Ian.

I've been looking today at what is booked on the next ship out (The Fidelio). It looks like there are 40 cars booked to go to Auckland and 46 cars to Melbourne. The cars booked have a big range in their build dates. The earliest built car I could see had a 7 August build date with the latest being a 7 October build date.

As far as I'm aware there are still August build cars that aren't either on the Parsifal or booked on the Fidelio too. I'm wondering if this is indicative of how much QC work is being conducted at the upfitters? It will be interesting to see what the panel fit and alignment is like on the early cars. Hopefully the long delay between car being built and car being shipped is due to Ford making sure the QC is perfect on these cars.

Hi Ian - To give you another data point, mine is a QLD car and it is scheduled to be unloaded in Melbourne.

Only reason I can imagine for Ford having all the cars being offloaded in a central point is if they are doing further work (or checking) on the cars once they land in Aus.

I think they will all be unloaded in Melbourne first. I'm in QLD and my Kuga was shipped to Melbourne, Ford AU carried out the QC there and then the Kuga was trucked north.

I'd be happy if that happens Ian as it's one less delay :)

I was just going on what the Ford Exec told me on the phone.

It's getting close now!

Have any of you guys in the first batch directed your dealer not to allow any potential purchasers to crawl through your cars prior to delivery?

I would be right on to that.

Looks like the Fidelio schedule has slipped a few days
On October 9 it was scheduled to arrive in Baltimore on Nov 2
Now its arrival is scheduled for Nov 6 in Baltimore, Auckland arrival Dec 3, Melbourne arrival Dec9
At leaves that gives ford and the wharfies 4 more days to load more cars
Here's hoping!!
Cheers

For the record I will be crawling through any new Mustang I can find until mine arrives......You might want to check the trunk/boot) for unwanted passengers.
:D
Seriously though all owners of the first ones have a sacred duty to show other poorer Mustang-less members of society their new cars....

Just when you thought our ETA's of 2 December at Melbourne dock were bankable .... the potential Panama Canal delay has hit us for a delayed ETA of I would think 7 days. :(

But no doubt your all getting the committed update emails and/or phone calls from Ford Australia today already

Showing someone you know your own stuff while you watch is a LOT different to having a dealer let someone see it.

Just found out mine has been caught up in the seatbelt recall with a recall date of Oct 26 whatever that means.!
I think it is now "Bon Voyage Fidelio"
My build date was Oct 2. If anyone else shares that date they may have a similar issue!
you can check the recalls on https://owner.ford.com and all you need is your vin no.

WTF Phil, that's a harsh blow to have been dealt.

I wonder why they couldn't just ship it and have Ford NZ perform the recall upon arrival to Auckland...

I hope that whatever has to happen is done so very swiftly to avoid any further delays to you mate.
