end of october, if not sooner. i don't have a garage so changing wheels outside in cold rainy autumn weather doesn't do my old bones much good :(

in another life i once thought that because there was no snow i could run my summers all winter. i learned an expensive lesson about tread compound cracking because after experiencing several near subzero days my one year old MPSS noticeably had less grip than before when the weather warmed up again.

Right before it Snows and if it don't Snow like last year ( with is rare for NY ) I probably won't swap out.


My GT came with Pirelli P Zero Nero 18" All Season tires and according to Tire Rack I should be fine. :hail:

I did just purchase a set of Mustang OEM wheels from E Bay. I plan on throwing Blizzaks and TPMS and have them ready to go.

I just switched to Continental DWS 06's. Same 265/35 size as my OEM Foundry 20" set up, cost me $1,365 mounted/balanced/local tax.

There were great deals on this forum for 18" OEM wheel/all season tire take off's, but the DWS's are rated top in their field for AS snow performance so I might just leave them on year round instead of remounting the Pirelli Nero's when warmer weather returns.

"Our official test of the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 confirms what we found during our introductory drive last season: this tire doesn't sacrifice any winter performance versus its predecessor and is still a leader among the few Ultra High Performance All-Season tires that can deliver reasonable snow traction."

my dad had dws tires on his car. it was good in the winter until the snow got too deep.

the only thing i did not like are the sidewalls... too soft and they roll over under hard cornering.

You'll still have problems with dedicated snow tires on passenger cars if the snow gets too deep, because of low road clearance and subsequent "plowing" of snow.

Also note that sidewall stiffness is not an issue as these are DWS 06 tires, not DWS:
