Do 20" wheels/tires reduce ride quality significantly over the original 19" wheels I have on the car now. I consider the ride harshness to be about as much as I want with the 19s. I like chrome wheels and can't find anything in a 19 that I like or that is light enough for me. Seems like they are offered only in 18 and 20".

Lowered on anything? Also can play a roll in ride quality when picking a new wheel size. But the comment above is certainly correct.

I don't notice any difference in harshness. I'm sure it's there but it must be pretty minior.
Maybe if I tried them back to back it would be more noticeable

Sidewall height might not actually change depending on which tires you're on now and what you put on the 20s. Seen a lot of 20s on 35 profile sidewalls.

Wheel weight is another factor to watch. 20s are usually heavier and heavier means more momentum transferred to the body when you hit bumps.

What brand wheels and tires are your 20" set and what is the tire size and rim width? Thanks to all for your replies. I have a lot more to consider.

RTR tech 7 wheels 9.5 wide front and 10.5 rear. Tires are 275/35r 20 and 305/30r20.

I am assuming that the ride is pretty harsh. I live in WI and there are a lot of rough roads because they need patching every year and my 2016 GT gets pounded. Think I might be better off going to 18's rather than 20's but I am interested in your opinion. Of course I don't drive the car in winter.

I run 285/35R20 square on mine and the ride quality is actually quite good (and some of our roads around here are not the greatest). That was one of my main concerns and I have zero regrets.

I have two sets of Velgen wheels that are 10" wide fronts with 275/35R20 and 11" wide rears with 305/35R20 rears. The ride is not that harsh at all.. As said above the sidewall height makes a big difference and so does the actual tire itself. Some models of tires are harsher than others, even with the sizes being the same.

Remember when considering side wall height that a 275/35 and a 305/35 does not have the same sidewall height just because both are 35. the sidewall is 35% (aspect ratio) of the width of the tire. This can make a difference in your ride comfort also if you change the width of your new 20" tires.
