$62880 with the stripes.

Wasn't there some profiteering dealer in WA taking advantage of the uninformed?

I remember some kid on WP saying that he had signed a contract for well in excess of RRP.

Yeh some dealers were quoting me up to $75,000 but $79,000 is way over the top, poor kid.

Interesting... It wasn't marketed very well from what I saw. (keeps things consistent on fords part I guess.)
It probably would have gone a lot higher if it had been.

I had similar experience albeit only $2k more but I was saved by quote from Ford website. Gladly dealer also didn't argue much and I got my Mustang under $50k

yeh, the first dealer I walked into as soon as price was announced because they are conveniently located along the train line home. They couldn't lock down a drive away cost, so I bailed to another dealer closer to home.

Lucky I went with gut feel - remember folks, as soon as the RRP price is out, the dealer should have all the other costs locked in and you should be able to sign an agreed price.

These guys wanted me to drop cash deposit without locking in a cost. Dodgy as!

Its the same for anything.. Businesses are there to make money, if you make it easy for them and ask no questions you will usually pay an excessive price. There will always be a percentage of customers who just want 'X' item and do not question the price, or ask questions.

Simply asking a few questions or doing a price comparison between another vendor (where possible), which is easy when dealing with say... Ford, plenty of dealerships around. Will usually gain you a more realistic, fairer price.

There are other strategies when it comes to cars... timing can help, who you talk to helps, not rushing helps, there are always options you can play into the price then remove later.

Look at the markups on the gt350s in the states, some ask sticker price or below, some dealerships have huge markups, just fishing for the impatient, less informed customer.

Some people don't care and just want the car now! and in the excitement sign whatever is in front of them, that's fine, but that's the cost of impatience.

I feel sorry for the kid on WP who's contract is way over the normal price, but he must have been in a hurry and caught up in the excitement. and concluded that (in his mind) that was a fair price for the car, and one he could live with paying happily. Lesson learned.

Agree business is business, but when you turn up in your barely 2 y/o sports car that was ordered under similar 'first adopter' circumstances, and explain to them that you're just after a friendly chat about an upgrade to the mustang, and they proceed to treat you like some kind of idiot on his first rodeo "you have to sign this today otherwise you'll miss out", then i'll take my business elsewhere.

They're a bunch of asswads at that dealership and I haven't heard of any other dealer shanking people so much. It shits me to tears and is completely unethical. I mean, a couple of grand markup, orrite if you must, but 10 to 15 over all the other dealers is just daylight robbery.
