Why is NZ so special? It still arrives by boat, doesn't it ?

here we go...

it's not exactly deck cargo, so what's the boat go to do with it?

Ford Focus / Mondeo all arrive by boat, no black shit under them

Toyota, Mazda. Merc, BMW the list goes on, no black sht under than like this.

in the EU ist about rust prevention for driving on salt laden roads, so they get sprayed, but no real need for this mess on AU / NZ deliveries.

My point is, all Mustangs cop it, surely you saw the many posts about it before yours arrived?

Isn't it for rust protection for the trip on the boat

I doubt it, our other cars don't have this.

2017 Mondeo
2016 Focus S
2014 Focus ST
2015 FGX Falcon Ute

worked on BMW, VW, Nissan, Merc all arrived by boat and not a mess like this under them

Cant remember exactly, but it was thousands of K's, in Summer too. (Extra heat)
When you think its gone (the smell), take it for another 'spirited drive' and you'll find it smells again...
I like the smell of warm/hot brakes and mechanicals... but that black stuff stinks....

I have black overspray ALL over the car. Found the entire bonnet covered when I had a good look in bright sun today.

Just as well it booked in for correction.

I was offered the same as I had fine black spots all over my bonnet and boot. But I had visions of an apprentice with an orbital sander trying to work out how not to leave swirls everywhere in the second half of his crack at removing the spots

I got a new clay bar and removed them a section at a time and them applied a beautiful wet look protective sealant, great job and only took an afternoon. Not a swirl in sight!

Its for rust proofing for winter roads.

Actually I would have thought that the rust proofing spray would be warranted in the bottom of the south Island of NZ. I had many a ski trip spent down there slushing through salted grimy snow. I remembered one time following the truck that spat that crap all over the roads, I was thinking I'm glad I'm in a rental!
