How do you even find a thread from that long ago and then reply to it? Genuinely confused

I have seen some boards where really old threads are in some kind of feed on the forum main page, not sure if that was the case here, but anyways, people need to look at the age of the thread before bumping it... sheesh.

You're cruising the forum and at the end of a thread the forum displays similar threads for you and it doesn't discriminate against really old threads.
So you click one that sounds interesting, perhaps about rev limits, and some guy's post really intrigues you and you want to know more.
You bang out a reply and hit post.
Then someone responds and informs you that the thread is ancient lol

Yup. It's the 'similar threads' feature. On another forum I have seen revivals of threads as old as 2005 caused by this feature (and I believe in one instance even 2001, if memory serves). Now, that's one hell of a necropost. Ten years seems pretty benign by comparison.
