Whatever puts the power to the ground and keeps it there. So if it's 5k then that's what I'd pay.

I would pay $3,500-4,000 for:

  • 15" Brembo package with SS lines, DOT4+ fluid, track ready pads
  • Non-adjustable but well tuned shocks/struts with matched 1" drop springs that are 6-7/10 stiffness(1 being Cadillac, 10 being racecar)
  • Adjustable sway bars
  • Higher durometer bushings front and rear, aluminum control arms
  • 3.73 Torsen (either T-2R or T-4R based on expert opinion for this chassis)
  • Bigger radiator, air/oil cooler, custom front fascia with extra cooling
  • Real vented hood
  • Performance engine calibration, +15-20hp, sharpest throttle response, engine braking, 7,000rpm redline, switchable cammed-idle
  • FRPP tuned, lightweight exhaust
  • 19x10.5" low-pressure cast or rotary-forged wheels, 285/35/19 Michelin Super Sport tires at all 4 corners
  • Special steering wheel, shifter, seats, rear seat delete
  • Oil temp gauge
  • Call it the Competition Package

I could imagine $5,000-5,500 for the Competition Plus Package:

  • Double adjustable Multimatic(or similar) shocks/struts
  • 305/30/19 Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires
  • Special transmission(FRPP Tremec or similar), with cooler, close-ratios, solid mounted shifter
  • Diff cooler
  • CF driveshaft
  • Two-piece brake rotors
Those package ideas are great, but those prices wouldn't make it past dreamland.

Unfortunately I agree. If that could happen, that's what I'd pay. For prices higher than that, I'd go aftermarket.

Voted $5k but I would at least want 305s out back and 275s up front. All the features of the PP plus a rear seat delete option.

Exhaust would be cool but not needed.

Since we are going Track they could off a radio, a/c delete as well as deleting a few other things. Sort of a weight reduction package.

This will be my street car that I drive on a track every once in a while so I voted for the existing PP. If this was going to be my track car that I drove on the street every once in a while, I might choose some sort of more track oriented package.

For me personally, I specifically wanted a comfortable car that could still be taken to the track a few times a year, so PP is perfect for me.

Here's what I posted in Twin Turbo's "Your in charge thread"
http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php/youre-in-charge-4100.html:

I just want a track capable version, with a high revving engine like the old Roadrunner. Don't care about huge power, flat plane crank, or increased displacement.

My list is:
- Square tire setup (maybe 275 all around)
- Lightweight wheels
- High quality, two-piece brake rotors (all four corners)
- Fixed piston calipers that allow easy pad changes (all four corners)
- Track oriented suspension tune (doesn't need to be super stiff, but should be very well damped)
- Would like to see some of the steel suspension sub-frames changed to aluminum for weight savings
- Would like to see a lightweight battery for weight savings
- Would like to get the premium stereo system (the nice touch screen)
- Would like CLOTH Recaro seats (for breathability and better grip)
- Would like the engine to rev to 7500 RPM and pull strongly to redline (460 HP would be fine)

Ideally the price would be ~$52,000 and weight would be about 100 - 150 lbs less than the GT with PP. I realize the weight loss is unlikely, but that would be a nice goal. The main price adders would be the high quality brakes, the aluminum suspension bits, the lightweight wheels, the battery, and the high quality shocks. Overall, a ~$10,000 premium over the GT with PP seems like a reasonable price increase. You'd maybe get some savings with the cloth seats rather than leather

For this poll, I chose the $10,000 option. Now, the context of my initial post was what I'd like to see for the GT350, so the prices and content are a bit more than what I'd expect for a "Track Pack" as discussed in this thread.

For the purposes of this discussion, I'd give up on some of the weight loss targets, and try to get the price to just under $50,000.

The primary areas of improvement for me would be:
1. Highly damped suspension (don't want to hear any complaints about body control)
2. Well balanced (minimal understeer, progressive controllable oversteer)
3. Excellent brakes (would like two piece rotors with calipers that allow easy pad changes. Could be 4 piston front and two piston rear, but should have very good rotors with good venting capability. I really like my Stoptechs on my 350Z, so I'd be fine with something like that on all four wheels. Don't care about the Brembo name, but would be fine with those as well. Really just want something that will give confidence over a long session and that makes it easy to swap pads. Could always go aftermarket, but getting a balanced setup is not an insignificant task.
4. A higher revving engine that pulls to redline.

Yep that sounds like perfect options packs. They may not be exactly what I would choose, pretty close, but as a pack, yeh, I'd pay for it.

I just want to thank everyone for an honest productive discussion that we all know FORD is reading. You know the suspension dynamics engineers are looking at this while their heads are exploding because they probably had their other packages shot down :) All we can hope for is the 'trickle down' effect in the next year or two.
