Are you all electric? That sounds very high. We downsized into a 3,000sf house and our recent gas bill was around $240. Our house was built in 1904 and the wall insulation is nil. I have a 90% efficient furnace and am installing a heat pump in the spring along with a couple mini splits to control the temps a little better and knock down my bills. We just got our utility bill...$320, highest it has ever been by about $50. We don't keep our house very warm, 66 - 67 during the day and 62 at night. It's a small, well insulated house. We aren't trying to be frugal, we have always been most comfortable with the temp in the mid 60s, indoor or out.
Itās greed and nothing more ā¦.
Big Corp walking all over everyone and no one can do a thing about itā¦
If people donāt like how high their gas bill is they should just switch to another gas provider.
That would be easy if the home was on propane. Not so easy when you are handcuffed to one piped in natural gas provider. For me that would be PG&E, no other options.
No, mostly natural gas for heat, except the basement is electric. All appliances are electric. HVAC is all recent top of the line Lennox. I suspect being retired is contributing to our utility costs, as I spend a lot of time in the basement working on my hobbies, now. Plus, we have several big screen TVs on most of the time, along with computers. Are you all electric? That sounds very high. We downsized into a 3,000sf house and our recent gas bill was around $240.
