Probably prewired for magneride and / or active exhaust.So, I got under the Mustang for the first time, and came across the item in the photo. It's wiring connector in a bit of heat resistant "hood". There's one on each side. They don't seem to be held on very securely...

If the image is of the front of the car, which it appears to be, those connectors are for the MR suspension option.
There should be a set of similar connectors at the rear (if the image is of the rear, then the front).

If you don’t have AE, check this thread too for the AE connector/harness tucked up behind the rear bumper cover (it’s different looking than your image):
