Looking into getting some rims and had a question on offset. Looking at 20x9 Velgen VMB5 and VMB5V2

VMB5 say they are +35mm offset and an old set of rims I had were this spec and fit my friends S550 pretty flush, but the VMB5V2 are +32mm.

Would the V2s be more flush to the fender or sat in more? I know 3mm isn’t a slot but figured I would ask to be sure. Velgen did say +32mm would be flush but as I said I don’t the exact details of offsets.

I mainly want to make sure the rims stays in the fender as I prefer my rims/tires not poke out but also don’t want it to appear sunk in either.

Thanks

The +32 would be closer to the fender by 3mm.

What are the wheel widths? Placement at the fender requires offset and width. With offsets in that range, it depends on the camber you’re running. 3mm isn’t much difference.

9.5" ET35 is ~2/10ths of an inch more flush. 9" ET32 is slightly more conservative. Still basically a flush fit tho.

Since this question plays into the flush situation and to keep from making a new thread I’m going to ask this here.

Seems like I’m going to end up with the VMB5V2 20x9+32. Tires I’m looking at are 275/35/20 (27.6” tall) and 285/35/20 (28” tall). Stock tires are 255/40/19 (27” tall). Ideally, I know you want to match heights for the speedo and a calculator doesn’t say it’ll be off by much for the 255 vs 275/285 but my main question is a 285/35 ok on a 9” rim? Not sure if it will bulge, pretty sure the 275/35 won’t. Car isn’t lowered now but I do have BMR lowering SP080 springs to put on.

275/35/20 Continental Extreme Contact DWS06
285/35/20 Falken Azenis FK510

edit: after posting i re-checked my stock tire height and it’s 27” vs 28”. So both tires are taller and my speedo will be about 2-3 mph off. So it’s probably best to go with the 275/35/20 tire.

The minimum approved rim width for the 285/35/20 Falkens is 9.5 inches. The minimum approved rim width for the 275/35/20 Continentals is 9 inches. I think you’ve got your answer. The DSW06 is a great all-season tire.
