I agree, great skill in the renderings but this is not quite how I'd imagine the Cougar XR-7 looking like if it came back. It would need to be longer than the Mustang, full size back seat, and to really set things off chop the rear windows like the classic Mercury cars. It would probably be Challenger sized but would be more in the category of the CTS coupe.

I guess what I would prefer is the current higher option Mustang re-badged as the Cougar and then make a cheaper, stripped down Mustang and call that one the Mustang. Although if they did make it like a Cougar (larger) I might like it - some day when I'm done with HPDEs.

The Cougar is gone and should stay gone. It was basically a Mustang with different styling. It also existed in a world where you could have two very similar cars from the same company sell fairly well. Those days are gone. We have the Mustang and should be happy it still exists and can easily trace its heritage back to the original. I think it would be cool as hell to see a modern Cougar, but I just don't think it would be a good idea. Now if they had made the Mach E the Cougar E-liminator, that would have been quite fine in my book.

It would be bad ass to have a luxury rocket.. picture a 5.2 Voodoo mated to a 10 speed, Magnaride... woooooohooooo.
A 5.2 crossplane-crank engine would be far more compatible with an automatic transmission. In some gears, some of the bits inside the A10 rotate faster than the engine rpm coming in. Never mind the FPC's vibration issues finding their way past an AT's locked-up torque converter.
