Yep, Just got my C license. Took 3.5 years to get it. Seems like there is always one thing after another keeping me away from the DZ. A buddy who started same time as me is up at 800+ jumps while I am around 215ish.
Just so expensive and I haven’t had the money. I really want my license, my own rig, and if I can do that. I would of been game it was 1k for 4 months. And it’s been getting shorter months and more expensive

really makes hard to Justifythe drive and everything but I want too

I was getting a few jumps in every paycheck while going through AFF. Then got impatient and wanted to get it done before leaving for vacation, so around 15 jumps in or so, I took several days off, got a loan against my retirement account and knocked it all out in 4 days. My son started same time as me, but quit after 11 jumps or so. Head instructor was kinda grouchy and my son realized he could go ride his motorcycle all day in the mountains and have a lot of fun for much less money. Last December he went down to Skydive City in Z-Hills Fl and jumped back into it. No pun intended. Much cheaper there. So if you want to take a week or so off work, go to Florida, camp at the DZ to save money (which is what he did) it might be a more attractive option for you.

Dude, that was a "perfectly good" airplane!!
Fixed that for you. You need the air quotes around "perfectly good." No such thing. They crash all the time. At least this way I have options. Remember, a pilot says any landing he can walk away from is a good landing. There is no mention of the passengers walking away.

how many of the instructors are ex-special forces (or military trainers) from the USAF base next door?

I'd like to see the stewardess reaction when you waddle onto the 737-Max with your rig, be unable to stow your gear bag under the seat ahead of you, and ask during pre-flight if it's ok to pop open the over-wing door during unexpected departure from cruise altitude. "What will the signal be to go, go go?"

Dunno if any are, but I have been on loads jumping with Para-Commandos since they and Golden Knights train there.

And my rig fits in a carry-on bag in the overhead compartment. No waddling needed with a sport rig. :D

Okay, you gotz yur mask but doesn't mean you don't still have to stand in the red circle.
Not gonna lie...I have a bad habit of standing in lines I don't belong in, and on random shapes that mean nothing to me 🤷‍♂️
