Long time reader and "lurker"; Today, I ordered a 2015 Premium Ruby Red GT, equipped with the 400A equipment group, ebony leather, 6 speed automatic transmission, 3.55 gears, enhanced security package, spare tire kit, spoiler delete, and the 19" X 8.5" Premium Paint Aluminum Wheels. I paid $40K out-the-door, including all applicable taxes and fees. I "believed" I negotiated a pretty good deal/price (I have been reading and learning from this forum and particular thread for a long time now!)...until I read 50Racer's post from a few hours ago. He paid 39,250 out-the-door (this doesn't include any applicable rebates when his car is delivered). He optioned his car with (roughly) the same amount of monetary options as I did mine. Now my question is...should I go back to my dealer (before he orders the car on Monday morning) and "push" for more money off the out-the-door price? Perhaps try to "squeeze" him for $500.00 more or does the collective experienced wisdom of the forums advise to be satisfied with the 40K out-the-door price. The dealership, by the way, is in Augusta, GA. I also have my own financing through a credit union (1.74%) and there will be no trade in. Thanks in advance for your advice and assistance.

^^^ It wouldn't hurt to try to get more off, but you'll have to try and justify it somehow or they'll just roll their eyes most likely.

I noticed on the Ford website today that the optional 19" X 8.5" "Premium Paint Aluminum Wheels" show up as black now, not the gunmetal grey they use to be. I thought that was strange.

GT Pony...I noticed the wheels show display as black too...I hope they are indeed black and not gunmetal grey, as with Ruby Red it will look better, in my opinion. And yes, I would have to have a reason to ask for an additional $500.00 off. My salesman couldn't (maybe wouldn't?) tell me if the dealership added the fuel cost (usually $45.00) and the advertising fee...usually around $650.00) to my out-the-door price. I intend to call and talk to the finance manager, vice my salesman, Monday morning. If these fees are added, I intend to have them removed...which should take the $500.00 from the OTD price. Do you think 40K (hopefully 39,500K) is a good price for the car? Thanks for your input.

What was the price before all the tax, license, doc fees, etc? That's how I usually look at what the deal is because you have to pay tax and license no matter what. Doc fees might be negotiable.

If you bought via the X-plan it sounds like the advertising fee is included, so maybe they will negotiate some of that.

GT Pony,

I didn't purchase using the X Plan; I built it online and used invoice prices to determine a price to pay OTD. The price (invoice for car and all options) before all the tax, license, doc fees, etc was (is): 38,163.64 (rounded to $38,164.00). 6.5% Georgia Sales Tax, $395.00 Doc Fee, $50.00 State Title Fee and $3.00 Lemon Law Fee. It came to $41,092.66 (rounded to 41,093.00). My original offer (after building the car online) was 38,500 OTD. The salesman came back with $41,092.66 as his "absolute best out-the-door" price. We negotiated and I got him down to $40K but as I said, he didn't know (or wouldn't tell me) if the advertising and fuel fees were included in the price. I understand it is difficult to have the $825.00 Destination and Delivery fees removed from the car's OTD price but the advertising and fuel fees are truly just pure dealer "profit" (along with the bogus "doc fee"...the dealership employs people to generate the necessary paperwork to purchase a vehicle...so what exactly is the "doc fee" actually levied for?). Hopefully, the advertising fee and fuel fees are included in this price and I can have then removed. I think 39,500.00 is a fair price for the dealership and a good deal for me. What do you think?

From what you've said above, based on my back calculations, the dealer is giving you a deal that is about $1026 below dealer invoice already. If you back calculate what the cost of the car is before state tax, license, doc fee, etc to end up at $40,000 OTD, it comes out to $37,138 which is about $1,026 below what you figured invoice price was ($38,164). A grand below invoice is a pretty decent deal for sure IMO.

GT Pony,

Thank you for your keen observation...I knew the OTD number looked good but there was still "something" in my gut which I couldn't put my "finger" on exactly. I didn't calculate the car's cost before all the applicable taxes to end up at $40,000 OTD but you make an outstanding point, for which you have my thanks! I will call to see if the fuel and advertising fees (which Truecar says is $720.00 in Georgia) are included. If so, I may be able to get an even better deal. I will "push" for them to be removed or at least get me to $39,500 OTD. I suppose I didn't do too badly, huh?

Just picked up my competition orange gt base with pp for $33250.00 otd. They really discount these things. This was not including my down payment and I didn't put any trade equity toward it.

Man things are rough out here in new york. everyone down south getting close to 5k off MSRP. Put in my custom order earlier this morning and this was the best price possible between 4 dealers. 1 offered a true care price for $200 less than what I paid but I was afraid of getting charged for BS dealer fees.

2015 GT Premium (Race Red)
GT Performance package
Ebony Leather Recaro seating
MSRP $41,215

Sold for $38,811 - $500 cash rebate = $38,311
+8.625% New York Tax, $75 doc fee, $10 NYS inspection, $12.50 waste tire management fee?

Out the Door price $41,756
good grief 8.625% car sales tax???
