Why even take off the lid, and risk dropping one of the bolts and never seeing it again. Just remove the lower hose at the seperator, and use a syphon to suck out the oil. You may not get every last drop, but it's a hell of a lot easier. This is what I use, and it takes seconds. https://www.ebay.com/itm/131238845062

I do the same as Bob. Remove the tube and use a large syringe to suck out the oil. Fast and easy.

We're snowed in here today. Good day for little projects...

Lost the red pin stripes and added the thick acrylic Carroll Shelby Racing lip splitter letters. Been sitting on them for a while. Much better looking without the pins.

These come in Wimbledon White and really fit in better than the typical vinyl Oxford White. Very sticky, but also used some adhesive promoter. Let's see how long they last.

Winter blues also inspired me to install all seasons 285 35 19s all the way around. continental extremecontact dws06 plus tire. A little smaller but than OEM but drive well so far in these temps. Very good cold weather tire for our cars.

That's pretty spiffy. I have one of these https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=11975969&cc=0&pt=409&jsn=1208 and its the best 8 bucks I've spent for the garage but I think the siphon hose is too rigid to make the bend from the intake hole to the pool of oil.

If you had to remove anything to get the lid off the oil separator with a stock coolant tank in place, you had something wrong to start with. The FP oil sep and a coolant tank shouldn’t be touching anywhere with all lid screws completely accessible. Apologies if I misread and misunderstood your post.

I think you quoted me by accident and meant to include something else. Regardless, the right side is the only one you need. The left side does nothing. Search here and you find no one ever gets any oil in the left one.

It’s been reported that long, consistent high rpm’s (e.g. track use) will draw some residual oil back in that side. But even then talking minuscule amounts that don’t justify the $$$ of the can. Look at where that vent is connected…it’s upstream of the TB and outside the engine. Should be no vacuum on it like in the intake, which is what draws all the air in the right side.

It has at least a 3oz capacity. So if your emptying it at least at every oil change, you should never aproach the capacity.
I empty mine at every oil change, and suction out a little over 1 oz of oil.
