Posted here for higher visibility. Recently I put 28x6x18's on the front and now it's throwing a U0422 code. Had 28's on the rear for a year no codes. I googled that code, didn't tell me much other than the BCM received invalid data. Is it in fact cause of the tires ? Somehow I think it's just a coincidence. Thanks.

I don’t know if this doc will help any, I’m not seeing the DTC in it, but it does have info about rear gear ratio upgrades and tire sizing affecting the PCM.

Thanks, but that's for a P1653, which I don't have, plus I have the same tire heights on all four corners.

What did you have on the front previously that didn’t cause the BCM fault?

Can you change the tire diameter in your tuning interface or anything?

Had the stocks 27.25" height. Then had firehawks 26.72". Now 28"x6"x18". All within the 7% margin of the stock tire height. Yeah I changed the parameter to 28" last year.

Reflashed the tune. Notta. KAM reset. Notta. Got time to try and figure it out as I'm currently looking at this bullshit haha:

WTF..... Wow.
Maybe re-install the tune? Check the ABS connectors and wiring to the sensors?

Trying! Do you think it was the tire change, or maybe a coincidence?
K so I just checked for ABS codes. Nothing. Flashed the tune. Nothing.

Now...

1. Reverted to the stock tune from the backup.
2. Reloaded my latest custom tune.
3. Started it up. Let idle for a couple mins.
4. Shut it off
5. Checked for codes. Nothing.

Lessons for me : When I load a custom tune, I'm always gonna load the stock tune first.
Thank God it snowed today so I can actually take the time to analyze things haha.

Let’s hope it stays GTG! Glad it may be resolved!

I just wanted to find out why I couldn't clear the code. Normally you can clear, and it'll pop up later when you drive it. This cleared it. I think it was a conflict in the BCM. Tune was rewrote to 3.73 from 3.31 gears but I also changed the parameter in the tune device. So that's why I'm guessing 'invalid data'. Cheers & thanks buddy !

U codes are communication codes between modules on the CAN network. In this case, the body control module. Which is responsible for everything from exterior/interior lighting to the fuel level of the car.

This particular code seems to point to the fuel level signal circuit. However, i'm away from Ford service info at the moment, i did find this online.

"The body control module provides a switched reference voltage on the fuel level signal circuit through a pull-up resistor that is connected to battery voltage. The BCM monitors the voltage on the fuel level signal circuit. The fuel level signal is adjusted for change in battery voltage. The voltage value is then transmitted as a network message on the network."
That being said, im not sure what the connection is with changing tires and the fuel level sensor. I'm guessing it had something to do with the way the tune was reading this value and it was sending back something the BCM didn't like.

Hopefully this fixed it for you. Keep us posted.

If you could find more info that would be awesome, as I'm striking out on any info on that code other than 'invalid data'. As for fuel level, seems to work fine, according to the logs anyways, shows like 31 and change liters. All interior/exterior lights work fine, all of the power accessories work fine, no ABS codes, etc. Thanks bud.
