I run waze via Android Auto with my phone plugged in. When Waze gives me a direction or warning, it lowers my radio volume, speaks to me, then <sometimes> increases the radio volume back to where it was. The key word is sometimes. Many times, it leaves the radio at the lower volume level, and I need to turn it up again.

I don't know if this is a Sync problem, a Waze problem, or an Android Auto problem. I believe I'm running Sync 3.4 (the update came out months ago IIRC).

Mine usually goes back to the volume it was at before the announcement. You can also adjust the Waze volume by hitting the steering wheel button while Waze is speaking.

I have had this wacky problem since I got the car 2 years ago. I have the same problem with any source of music regardless. Music+ Waze and or anytime the Google girl talks. I find that once I adjust my volume for music and voice independently (once for each) it seems to remember for awhile. Sorry that doesn't help you but you're not alone.

This is an old bug in Sync 3. I used to have it with the parking sensors in my Mondeo. The car would lower the audio volume while the sensors were beeping, but would sometimes forget to raise it back afterwards.
My understanding is that Sync automatically lowers the audio volume when it receives an announcement of any kind - be it a parking sensor beep or a Waze voice instruction. If the source of that announcement explicitly tells Sync when it's over, then all is well. If it doesn't, then Sync should consider it over after a predefined timeout period - which sadly doesn't always work.

I also have this same issue on my 2016 Mustang. I always wondered what the cause of it was and if there ever was a fix released. It seems that if Waze is giving directions and if there is a pause during the reading of the directions, the music sometimes tries to fade in and increase volume between the pause in directions but never reaches the original volume level. Then after Waze is done reading all of the directions, the volume in which it goes back to is not the original volume, but the softer volume that was likely remembered when the music was fading in during the directions pause.

I would love to hear that there is a fix or if someone, either Waze or Ford, could look into this as it definitely can get annoying.

It's been a bug for so long it's now a feature.
