This behavior from drivers of older models is what I'm talking about. Oh well. As one other member has said, maybe it will pass. Or, as many have said already, maybe the days when fellow Stangers wave to each other is over.

I'm new to the Mustang world. I thought that waving would be common. I guess it's not or it's becoming less so.
i dont think it will pass, it's probably because they dont like it because "it looks like a 2 door fusion", etc.

i dont mind because i don't like the older mustangs either. i was not interested in mustangs at all until i saw the 2015 last summer and fell in love.

I think the more these cars become common, the less likely you will get waves from other (non-s550) drivers. Like someone else said, i believe it to be jealousy/envy in most cases. Oh well, hate us cause you ain't us!

Well the Mustang "community" is huge so I wouldn't expect most owners to acknowledge each other. It is a whole different scenario when talking about specialty cars such as Cobras and Shelbys. Those typically attract enthusiasts where a regular Mustang has a much broader audience.

I used to wave, but only if the car was obviously modified and taken care of. That way I would know the driver was a fellow enthusiast.

makes sense why they don't want to get caught looking at you

ok that really makes sense. coming from the subaru community of wrx/sti owners, i realize now that they are a much smaller community of "enthusiasts" which is why there is a sense of "brotherhood" when you see another on the road, since they are so rare.

mustangs are more mainstream and there are lots of people that just buy them for looks.

It would basically be the equivalent of waving to every Impreza owner on the road, you'll get a lot of weird looks.

im usually the guy breaking his neck to check out all the nice challengers and other mustangs running around here lol.
Same here...I appreciate the "competition". I think the Big 3 have been looking really hot these days  My better half has a thing for the Hellcat but the Mustang made more sense at this point in time.

I think the first one that really caught my eye early one morning on my way to work sometime last year was the Camaro. Loved the redesign. Sure came a long way since my mom's '81. ;)

I have to say when I came across another S550 on the highway, it was an eco boost and we gave each other a nod and wave, and when I have come across camaros well they try to speed past me on the highway, i find it funny but the last one that did that wasn't even an SS so I let him feel special and let him keep going, no need to flex the GT's muscles, they already know.

and to add one more thing.. It was like the 2nd day I had the car and I was getting some gas, and a middle aged man driving a super clean '01 GT came right over to me to talk about the car, he loved it. I think it really depends on who is driving, I think must S550 owners are going to be proud of their care (like I am) and when we see others driving them we want to wave because obviously in such a large way we all have something in common.

Agreed, I thought I would have people trying to race me all of the time, but honestly I do not. Like, ever. It's kind of refreshing because when I drive the sti, every dickbag in a manual transmission wanted to run.

Man...yesterday ALONE I had four (well, more like three) cars try to race me. Had someone with me in the car each time. First was a dude in a subie or Ford hatchback, couldn't tell. Pulled up to my right (in traffic mind you) while we were moving. Apparently he revved his engine and sped up but I didn't catch it since I was more focused on pulling into a lot on the left...and the fact there were cars done 50 feet ahead of us.

Second, an older Camaro (think it was a 4 cylinder) started revving his engine, but was making a right turn...didn't see the point of that. Couldn't tell what the third car was but was also a car probably in its' 80s. Stopped at a light and looked over but didn't really make eye contact. Light changes and he floors it then gets ahead of me, but of course me being oblivious while I'm listening to music didn't catch a thing.

Last wasnt really a "race", but I entered an open stretch of road (only one lane on our side) and see this R/T Charger behind me. Follows behind me for about 5-10 seconds then aggressively passes me.

I think Furious 7 really motivated some people. Maybe I should rename the car the "Intimidator".

I parked next to an older gen. Mustang the other day. As I stepped out of the car, the owner of the other was approaching his. I smiled and waved. He said "What are you trying to do, show me up? Thanks a lot." Then got in his car and drove off shaking his head.

I've noticed that '15 owners have been very receptive to waving/smiling/thumbs up/light flashing/etc. But not everyone is paying attention to the other cars on the road. Some are just focused on the road.

Today I pulled up right next to a well-kept, black older model stang at the light. The guy was 2-3 cars ahead of me just moments before, in sparse traffic, so he must've seen me. The giveaway? The moment we stopped, I made a point to look right at his face, which I never do, and my tint is light enough to where you can tell whether I am looking at ya. Sure enough, I got the no-eye-contact, quick-look-down-turn-away thing. He 100% knew I was there. Awkwaaaarrrrd!:rolleyes:
