This is a tricky one. Technically a tune won't automatically invalidate your warranty, but if you take your car in for repairs and they determine the tune was a factor in whatever failure you're having repaired they will not cover the repair.

The first thing you should do is develop a good relationship with your service department. Get your tires rotated, oil changed, even your fluids topped off there. One day I showed up with a full blown exhaust system and some other mods and they didn't say anything. Just be prepared to drop the words Magnussen Warranty Act If you start getting unsolicited attitude from anyone.

Just remember, if you get a sh:t tune and it fries your motor then you're gonna have problems as they're going to look FOR it rather than overlook it.

If you blow a motor , it doesnt matter what type of relationship you have with the dealer....They will check for evidence of a tune...and if they find that ....Warranty repair denied

I'm sure the dealer would try to pin it on the tune, but it's not that cut-and-dry unless you roll over and accept their findings. The law is there for a reason.

Sure, and what exactly would you do to fight this, and how much will it cost to do so?

I have never seen any verified accounts of people getting the manufacturer to overturn a warranty denial for a blown engine , when a tune is involved.

I'm not a lawyer so I don't know, and I'd suspect you don't either.

Will Ford dealers perform an enhanced tune on a vehicle? If they will this may be a way around the related issues. Ya know, "The tune was performed by factory trained technicians".... I'm probably smoking crack on that one.

Any tune except FRPP will void your powertrain warranty.

It never gets to the level of being an attorney cause the guy who blew the engine cause if a tune knows he's better of accepting the fact that he is not gonna win the battle so hiring an attorney would only add more to his out of pocket costs.

I pay for Met Legal through my employee benefits so it's no skin off my nose to get a lawyer involved.
