for engines to be on significant back-order I would bet more have been damaged than many suspect. Certainly more than Ford expected apparently.
It has unique processes that make it more time consuming to make than the 5.0. Given that they beat the 2016 production goal by 10‰, it's clear that they are pushing production hard. Can't increase a line that has running 100% at its bottleneck.

Talked to a guy with a brand new '17R at a track day last week who had a '16 that went thru 3 engines before they all cried uncle. He ended up with the '17R out of the deal.

So far so good with mine though...

or a combination, regardless any company dumb enough to kill the supply chain for warranty and parts to get a couple more cars out is still making critical errors in my opinion.

Sounds strange as any person with half a brain would have asked for their money back on engine #2 instead of getting another engine and after that another car with the same engine. That would suck if it were true.

Story was engine #1 had two cylinders hurt. I don't remember which two. Engine #2 swapped in and subsequently had issues. They then found debris in oil cooling system that they supposed was left over from engine #1 that got engine #2.

So engine #3 was ordered to replace. He tapped out of the car at that time. Clearly, I don't know all the details.

Just pointing out that there are engines being replaced outside of what we know here and there indeed may be pressure on the supply chain...

three engines? If that is true, how did he find time to drive it? LOL
Again, if true, this meets most states criteria for the lemon law which is why he was probably offered the R. Painful process to get your hands on an R but I would take it!

Now when a GT350 engine fails, the owners will be shipping their car to that dealer for repair in the hopes they'll screw up again and leave shrapnel in the oil cooler so they can leverage two engines into a an R. LoL

there have been failed leak down tests and broken valve springs also, there have been a lot of issues that have not necessarily ruined the whole block and def not made it to forums.

Oh fuck me, I hadn't yet thought of this happening to mine. Thanks for the additional stress!

Note: I'm impressed by these tales of Ford customer service, having received some mediocre (we'll only do what we're obligated to do) service myself thus far.

This may have already been asked, but is there any correlation between cars being used heavily on the track and (engine) failing or is completely random...I plan on daily driving this car when it comes in. I will never track it, but plan on driving hard at times.

I daily drove mine, and went out on 150~ mile drives on the weekend around winding country roads. I haven't made it to any track event yet (HPDE, drag, 1/2 mile, etc). I've never even launched the car, with or without launch control. No line-lock burnouts either. I'd rev it out occasionally during the week commuting depending on time & place. Always mindful of engine oil temps. Didn't seem to matter.

Great question! But it does seem to be random.

I call this a bullshit joke here. 3 engines in the same car? Yeah right.
