Vland Multi-Mode Clear Tail Lights

Do you prefer stock red or clear/smoked tail lights?

I installed the non-USDM Vland tail lights. That yellow wire for the third brake light isn't required on our installs.
One problem I've found though is that the turn signal in any of the dynamic modes (cursor mode is my favourite) is very faint when you have the brake on.
I noticed if you don't hook up the yellow wire ..you will only get amber/ yellow lights when you step on the break .

I do actually get the full red on brake lights as that yellow wire isn't required for the non-US versions but the problem is that red brake light washes out the turn signal - barely visible. Ideally VLand should have configured the red brake LEDs to also sequence when the turn signal or hazards are activated.

I've had my Vlands for about 10 months now and they are still working great. FYI you will most likely get condensation in the lens but it will go away. Usually the day after a wash or heavy rain it happens. Apparently it is normal and does go away after a few hours in the sun.

Having had these on for a little while, I'm not sure if I like them or not. Created a poll on whether folks prefer the look of the stock red tail lights or the clear (or smoked clear) aftermarket lights, curious to see what your responses are.

I think the clear lights look great on a white or black Mustang. With my own car being race red, the red lights look sooo much better than the clear ones.

Yes I agree the car color for sure makes a big difference. If my car was race red instead of ruby I might not have bought the clear ones.

Mine come during sun even if the wash was 6-7 days ago. Weird.

I've had mine since July of last year. Still work awesome.

The only thing I've noticed about these is that

1. When you are braking, and you use a turn signal, it will be delayed by 1 flash, as in it won't activate right away, but will activate on the second "flash" of the turn signal. If you aren't braking, and you use your turn signal, it will turn on right away.

2. If your lights are on the off position, and you are at a stop light in a turning lane, one of the lights won't turn off. In stock configuration, if you are at a light, with lights off, and brakes on, your brake lights will only be on for the tail light that is not signaling, while the one that is signaling is not illuminated (i assume this is that way so that it is easier to see when the turn signal is on. I imagine you can't really see 3 flashing lights if the brake light is on). The VLANDs are illuminated, even in the all red mode. I imagine they did this for the amber mode. If your brake lights are on, and you are signaling, it will just turn red to amber for the signals, which is easier to see.

A part of me wants to go back to stock 2018+ tail lights.

I think they look great on silver, though.

I debate on going back to the stock ones from time to time. They look so good on magnetic though. For what they are, an aftermarket product, the work fine and look good. I'll just run them until they stop working and go back to stock. I do check them every few weeks to make sure they are working properly.

Yeah I think they are definitely better looking on some colors than others - not sure I like them on my car, may take em back off.

I will have to find some way to test this. Interesting observations for sure. I prefer the look of the euros on Magnetic (and the silver above) as opposed to the red. Wish they would have come clear from the factory but what can you do.

For me, I just put a camera behind my car and tested it and just looked at the footage. I did it in gear, in neutral, and it was the same result.

Easier if you have a friend to observe, though.

Did you happen to capture the turn signalling while you have the brakes on? Or the lights on and the brakes on? Just interested to know how visible the sequential turn signalling is, while the brakes are engaged.

Well ended up taking them off and putting the stock ones back on. Nothing to do with the Vland's, I just think the stock ones match my car color better.
