Now that we are entering a 30 day lockdown period I find it very unlikely that FRAP is opening anytime soon. Even when May 1 hits and if the outlook is getting better I really don’t foresee Ford and UAW agreeing to going back to work immediately. I have several questions. Is it possible that Ford would cancel VINs for cars that haven’t even hit the factory yet? If they did would they automatically move those to the first ones being built for MY21? If I found a car from another dealer would Ford allow my current dealer to cancel his order/VIN?

Yesterday, a little birdie told me that unless you are caught in partial production, remaining pending VINs will likely be pushed to 2021 MY.

My guess is only 1500+ 2020 MY cars will be made? Focus will return to high volume production and the GT500 is a very limited production vehicle. High volume is always more profitable than limited production high value vehicles, which are primarily for advertising.

Due to the increasing limited availability of the 2020, ADMs will not be reducing.

Thanks, Ron, it's not surprising.

On the same subject, I just read where Boston is becoming a hot spot. Now, I only know two firefighters here...yourself and @Jmeo. I HOPE your folks have seen the worst in Seattle but Jaime is just outside Bean Town.

So, I wanted to let forum members know that this bug is affecting every walk of life and nowhere more so than our EMT's. Please stay as safe as you can and God willing, we'll get through this without adopting a true wartime environment and end up in a depression.

What does your gut tell you about how those being pushed will be prioritized? Will Ford push them to the top? Or do you think our orders just get cancelled; we submit our order once the banks open back up and wait each Thursday to see if our name is called?

Might be a good thing I've yet to cancel my C8 order (placed when I thought a GT500 allocation was unobtainable). But then again that C8 allocation is likely to be pushed to 2021 also. As a first responder of the armed variety, at this point I'm just hoping for the best possible outcome for this pandemic.

It sure is Tom, but this is pretty believable actually. I would like it to be an April fools joke, but it just may not be.......

If real , it would appear any VIN's not generated would be pushed back to 2021 model years, and maybe even current VIN's that did not enter production. Leads me to believe cars in production before the shutdown will still be 2020.

Oops.... My bad. Did not mean to throw this into question due to the date. I guess the jokes actually on me. Lol. :cwl:

I will repeat this tomorrow, as this did come from a Regional Rep. Was told they would complete all GT350/GT500s currently in production. Those not in production will be pushed back to the 2021 MY. Please do not make any business decisions based on my comment, instead wait for an official statement from Ford.

So just to be clear your Regional Rep is confirming that not only GT500's will be built for the 2021 MY (which we already knew) but that Ford will continue to produced the GT350/R's models for the 2021 MY?

What about cars with a vin that are on the record as "in production"?

Just got off the phone...

To better clarify, all 2020 GT350/GT500s that have a VIN are considered scheduled for production and will be produced. All GT500 orders not currently having a VIN will be pushed back to 2021. At this point, the GT350 will not be produced in 2021. I just spoke with a dealer who is relieved to receive confirmation from Ford today that his two sold and pending Golden Tickets are confirmed to be built due to both having VINs and both are considered in production.

The same goes for other Ford vehicles, including the F150 which may equate to as many as 50,000 trucks not produced in 2020. This has the performance industry up in arms as the performance production year is essentially over. Typically, they receive the bulk of their base model orders toward the end of the production year. Shelby, Tuscany, Roush, Saleen, and other performance partners are all in the same boat.

June will be the end of the Ford production year to allow retooling for the 2021 MY vehicles. I can only guess the C8 will have similar challenges as well.

Don't blame the messenger, blame the Corona Virus. :crying:

So since I have a VIN my car should get produced? I’m going to be irritated if I waited all this time to get pushed into 2021 and lose Grabber Lime. I know Ford can’t predict a pandemic but this model year has been cursed. Its getting to the point I’m starting to eye some other cars and take advantage of some current deals.

No, I am not told that the GT350 will be produced in 2021.

Well then.....:sunglasses:
Congratulations!

That is my understanding.

Soo...
  • Does anyone have a guess as to how many GT500s will be produced in the 2020 MY? 1200? 1500? 2000?
  • How limited will the 2020 GT500 Base and CFTP be?
  • Has a limited MY run been cut short before?
