How did he conclude the drive shaft appears to be balanced? Just by looking at installation marks, or did he take it out and put it on a balancing machine?
I asked that exact same question, and all I got was "it appears to be balanced". I asked if the driveshaft was removed and was told no, but the service manager feels more comfortable escalating the issue before removing any parts. S.M. also mentioned that this feels more internal then the driveshaft...

Update: Ford HQ has told the service manager to replace the driveshaft which is being overnighted, so I'm told tomorrow I should have the car back if the driveshaft is the problem.

vibration

Just came back from having the driveshaft replaced.....:frusty: did not take care of the vibration. Will be taking the car back next week and getting a loaner so they can try and determine what is causing this.

Exact same thing has happened with mine. Dealer is @ a loss. Was offered a brand new 5.0 with the only exception being D.I. Blue, & $1000 out of pocket.
Basically taking my car in on trade with 209 miles.
Think that's what I'm going to do. Have had the car two weeks & it's been in the shop half of that.

I'm surprised they are doing that so quickly. Does the new car have any additional options? If not, at $1000 that is a very expensive 209 miles - not sure how I'd feel about paying that. Is Ford telling them to do this?

Someone else went through this identical thing and the dealer installed a new differential and it fixed it. I forgot the OP's name though.

EDIT: The driveshaft has some kind of "alignment marks" which I believe are located at the differential location. If the marks were not lined up, it might be causing a vibration.

Hi Everyone.
New here with a 2 day old 15 Comp Orange 5.0 GT auto with the oem 20" wheels & the P-Zeros.
I have less 100 miles on the car, & am getting a vibration through the steering wheel, seats, & rear view mirror @ 50mph on up to 65mph, haven't gone any faster, so I don't know if it gets better or worse? the vibrations aren't bad, but noticeable. I just went back to the Ford dealer & drove another auto Mustang with the 20" wheel package (it wasn't a 5.0), but it was as smooth as glass at any speed up to 65mph...
Anyone else have any vibe issues on their new 2015?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if this describes exactly what you are experiencing or not. Hopefully not, since Ford is unable or unwilling to solve the problem. At any rate, I hope you have better luck than most of us at getting it fixed! Ford has given up on mine, so I am currently in arbitration to get another vehicle.

No. The car is identical with the exception of color. The only option missing is the smart cruise or whatever it's called. Also, I've raised hell about it being brand new & in the shop already, so yesterday they had me come in for a meeting & said "There is no chance of Ford replacing the car" & "my options were to just wait till the found the prob & fixed it, wait until they couldn't diagnose the prob & lemon law it, or trade it in & take a $1000 hit".
I'm almost wondering if a solid driveshaft is a cure? It seems people reporting this problem have cars with all engines/transmission combinations...

It is something in the differential. Someone here had the differential replaced and he said it completely fixed the vibration issue. (His car is ecoboost, AT, w/PP).

EDIT: user is named JUBEN. He has 2000 miles on his car. They even replaced all the tires before finally changing out the differential.

Yes, please do. I really like my competition orange & don't want to come out of pocket another G.

This is interesting and is probably a pretty good deal given your car is now a used vehicle. But still, that is a hit you should not have to be taking.

I wonder why they are doing this. I mean if they can't figure out what the problem is, what are they going to do with your car once they have it? Whole thing seems a little odd.

I did ask him what's going to happen with that car if they can't fix it and he said they'll get it fixed and it's going to be resold but as a courtesy to me since the car is brand-new they're going to let me go ahead and get another car if that's what I want to do since it's been in the shop for a week I feel I got lucky with this dealer, they didn't have to do that but that's the offer that they gave me. Another thing that I liked they didn't just start tearing apart the car putting parts on it, they did the driveshaft per what Ford Motor Company told them to do, now they're waiting to find out what the next step is that Ford wants them to do.

Well, sounds like a good dealer. Good luck.

Ended up with a new car on Tues.. Exact same thing, but this one's Deep Impact Blue with the ceramic interior.
As for my orange one, YellowRagTop is right, it's the differential in these cars. The tech assigned to mine, went to take a driveshaft from a new one on the lot after replacing mine, & while test driving that car, noticed it vibrated worse than mine, then, before delivery of my new one, I drove a guard GT with 19" wheels, & it was worse than my orange one as well.
Ford has had him rebalance the wheels, replace the driveshaft, now he has to do the axles, then on to the diff, but Ford's hotline told him it is the diff, but do the axles first... Makes no sense, but that's what Flat Rock wants, process of elimination.
Anyway, thank you everyone for your help, & anyone in this same situation, push for a new car if your no more than a week or two into it, otherwise, it sounds like the diff is the culprit.
Thanks again.

If it's the differential, then that seems strange because both the non-Torsen and the Torsen equipped cars can have this mysterious vibration.
