Hi everyone, I'm having an issue and I've had a few people take a look with no luck. I have a 2015 mustang gt premium and I'm having this really odd noise while driving and stopped. It sounds like a chirping bird or a high pitch squeak. It sounds like its coming from the dash area to the left of the steering wheel. The higher the rpms the louder the chirp, same with if I hit a bump or just rev the car in neutral. It started after I got a set of 2019 mustang GT wheels put on the car at a local shop 8k miles ago. If anyone has any ideas at all please let me know thank you!

Sounds like a bearing/pulley going out in your drive belt system somewhere.

For me, it was the water pump making that noise around 80k miles.

You can remove the belt and start the car to see if the noise goes away. If it does, you can re-install the belt and then try to isolate the sound with the car idling.

The electric fans can squeak too, BUT it isn't rpm dependent and usually heard for a few seconds after the engine is shut off. This isn't what you're hearing, just something to be vigalent of.

From your description of hearing the sound that is RPM dependent and also happening in neutral, it wouldn't be related to your wheels or suspension

I have tried to listen for it inside the engine bay and I nor anyone else can hear anything that sounds off, if it was a pulley would I be able to hear it when I pop the hood and check for It?

2015…. How many Ike’s are on it?

Without being near the vehicle, my guesses would be:
- Clutch/throw out bearing if high miles
- VCT’s (there’s a thread on here with VCT info and how to replace)

If you don't hear anything from the engine/ engine bay, it pretty much isolates your problem to the transmission.

Does it make the noise with the clutch depressed and out? Or just one or the other?

It makes the noise at all times no matter if it's depressed or out.

It could be the drive belt or a bearing. Spray a bit of WD40 or similar on to belt see if noise stops or spray a bit on any bearing. See if noise stops. If it's the belt it could have small cracks in it or could just be tension.

I'll give that a try this weekend

I've had shock assemblies squeak, but it didn't really sound like an interior dash noise.

I would say it would be suspension related if I couldn't hear it at a stand still. It's very strange sometimes louder than other days.but it's always there

I'm going to ask the obvious question everyone is afraid to ask. Have you checked under your dash for a birds nest? :lipssealed:

Update: hey everyone I've checked the belts and checked a few other things that were suggested and nothing seemed to get rid of the squeak, I've also been able to get it on video as it was very loud today. I took this video going about 60, you can hear it loudly up until I stop the car.
