So is anyone here running a vented oil cap. I know the one from GT will fit.

I do. Then I added dirty side catch can and radium baffle plate.

will the same oil cap fit the 3.7? Any advantage over the standard?

Vented oil caps only make true sense in boosted cars. If your na car is making that much crankcase pressure, that means you have an alarming amount of crankcase pressure from blowby.

In a boosted car, the crankcase can see some pressure which is why we vent that to atmosphere or to the intake that way we dont blow gaskets

I wouldnt recommend it for your 3.7

Now for the boosted boys, if you want to vent crankcase pressure its almost always better to get a vented catch can. The oil cap vents 99% of the time will collect so much oil from oil vapor in the filter, that it will drip onto your valve cover/header. At least with the can, you vent clean air and only have a mess in the engine bay when you dont empty it enough, ask me how i know

Well both my eco and ess car are both on vented oil caps and closed catch cans.

I had my eco run one, it took one day for my entire valve cover in oil. Its a common issue for that. A closed catch can should still typically take care of blowby in a originally boosted car, its more important to increase venting when you have na go to boost or normally boosted to high boost. Otherwise its good to have the vented oil cap, but venting from places like valve covers also work ie. My vented catch can

Did your vented cap have one way valve like the upr or was yours just open filter

With a one way valve, to my knowledge all of them have the little ball check valve in them. If they dont, the car can run poorly due to a vacuum leak. Some engines rely more than others on crankcase vacuum, my 335i is extremely sensitive to it.

The only ones that dont are the super cheap chinesey ones from temu

I have had a one way vented oil cap on my eco for 15k miles and have yet to see any oil residue on the engine or valve cover or oil build up on the filter material of the vented cap. I also have a 100 psi one way check valve on the intake side of my JLT catch can to control any boost from being forced back into crankcase past the stock PCV valve. I empty my catch can every 1K miles.

I make max boost of 24 PSI at WOT.

I've got both a catch can and vented oil cap / crankcase breather, and my vented cap filter does get an oil film when I run it hard on track days. I put an old sock over it last track day and the sock got oil film soaked on it too, so I guess I need the extra venting. I've got a NX2 turbo with tune boosted to 25-26 psi.

It's understandable under track/spirited driving conditions to vent more oil vapor that would build up on the breather filter over time. It should not be very noticeable under normal street driving conditions IMO. It all depends on the overall condition of the engine and piston rings as to how much blowby/crankcase pressure is being developed.

I don't track my car so cannot speak to that scenario in terms of oil buildup.

I have breathers on both valve covers, you can smell it but I don't get any leakage/dripping

I've had the cap vent on for 18 mths or so no issues couple months ago put Radium baffle and Mishi catch can during the install noted valves had minimal to no carbon deposits at 50K miles.

I don't lug the car around town I'm in sport mode all the time to keep rpm up a bit

I have a UPR vented oil cap with oneway check valve, and a UPR non vented catch with oneway valve, I have no issues with oil dripping from the valve cover vented oil cap filter.
