You guys are delusional. No cop is going to waste his time after watching that video. There is zero vandalism in the video. Is there a douchebag on the video that could be charged with littering? Absolutely! But vandalsim? No, there is no deliberate destruction of property.
If the soda caused damage to the paint, then yes there is vandalism. And yes that was deliberate.

Still don't know WTF the guy is doing at the end there because he doesn't empty the whole cup.

He placed the cup on the car, he didnt throw it or dump out the contents on the car. I dont see any cop or judge agreeing that he deliberately tryed to damage the car. The only intent that can be proven on the video is littering. Again I'm not saying that the guy isnt a huge douchebag, because he clearly is and if I caught him doing that I'd throw it back at his face at like 80mph.

We had a couple of kids vandalizing cars in the neighborhood years ago. Put a cam in the front window of our house and they very next night caught the little idiots pouring used motor oil on our cars. The cops had a nice talk with them. One set of parents made the kid come over and apologize. He came over crying and offered to pay for a wash. I gave him a short lecture about how dangerous it is to mess with people's things and let him go. The other kids parents? Denied it was their kid even though we had evidence. A lot of people suck at parenting.
Yup, this is the sad truth with parenting these days. I used to work up in a little resort area (Bass Lake, CA). Just a hotel, little market, and some gift shops and crap on the lake. These little punk kids that lived in the area were always loitering around vandalizing and starting trouble and the security guard they had there told them to piss off and leave the property. This group of little assholes threatened to kick his ass and the cops were called to force them off the property. The parents' reaction? Don't apply a boot to their kids' asses for starting trouble and vandalizing shit, they banded together for a failed attempt at trying to get the security guard fired, and threatened to sue him lol.

I would report it and give a photo of the guy off the video to police anyway. the police might like to have a talk with this guy if they see him wandering around some day looking suspicious.

The prick has already been to her car a 2nd time after the first incident.

For those of you who do not think this was vandalism, think again. I would have kicked the guy's ass if I saw him do it to my car. If a kid who was 3 did it, ok, but not an adult. What if he thinks he got away with this, and throws something toxic on a car next, or keys it, or steals it. Knock the sh!t out of him now, save him from getting knifed or shot when he tries to steal a car one day.

Glad your co-worker got to have a little chat with that loser Liz. I think I would report it so the cops can patrol around there for a few days.

Well the video does not have much but the moments it got before time was up and it shut off were mildly interesting. It shows the guy walking directly in front of the car from the right, waving sheepishly at the camera (it appears he must have gotten his verbal thrashing), and proceeding towards the drivers side. But where he was headed would have put him through a long dense barrier of really scratchy bushes. (My car's butt is backed up to these bushes, with more of the same bushes preventing anyone from entering the passengers side.) Must be a small clearing to slide through to access the sidewalk, I will have to check.

I do not see any evidence of him looking like he was taking his time to peer through the windows. I am not positive where exactly on the lot he was confronted by my coworker but there was no confrontation on camera. It could not have taken place after the camera switched off because he was looking right at the camera when he did the odd little wave and my coworker did indeed say he had threatened to take the dash cam video to the police. Also the video time lines up with the time my coworker came to tell me he had just approached the guy.

At any rate, the car was fine when I left.

My coworker did mention the guy seemed high or not all there. It wasn't like he would ever rough him up or anything like that, but he clearly scared him straight, with the guy saying he 'won't do it again' :headbonk: I guess I will take his word for it :D

Well, worst case scenario at least you'll know your first suspect if anything does happen to it. I'm with the advice of going ahead and filing a report on it if he's regularly walking through there. Yeah, the cops will probably shrug it off and not do much about it. BUT. Say something worse actually does happen. You'll at least have some video proof that this guy already did something somewhat malicious, was confronted about it, and there's a bit of evidence and a report filed away showing that there's some kind of questionable history with this guy being around your car and acting dickish. You'll have some established history already if you did have to file a police report for something that's a bigger deal.

That is the face of jealousy. Once upon a time in America, when you saw something beautiful, you became motivated to work hard and earn your own. Today, the reaction is to destroy what you cannot have.

I weep for the future...
what the fuck are you on about... this has been happening
