A buddy is a tech at the local Benz/Jag/Alfa/Porsche dealer and is mounting my Ford Performance PP2 wheels tomorrow. He asked me to bring valve stems, but I honestly have no idea what I need.

Anyone know if these will work?

Why not transfer your TPMS sensors over from your existing wheels to the new wheels?

He's planning to swap the sensors, but told me to bring valve stems. No clue, tires is something I've never messed with.

If you cannot or do not want to use what you already have and you need them by tomorrow go to your local Ford Dealer. The one that you pictured is not correct.

I'll call the parts department first thing. Hopefully they'll sell just the valve stems and not the valve stems and TPMS.

What makes you say that these are incorrect? I'm not questioning you, just curious for my own edification.

I certainly may be wrong but I was unaware the the sensor could be separated from the valve stem. I always thought they were one piece.

I did some deeper research today, and found out that Ford does sell just the valve stems without TPMS, but the part number that one dealership had, F2GZ1700C, was out of stock everywhere. I was able to trace down F42Z1700A, which is a current part, and is available at several local dealers.

I'm headed to the dealer to pick these up, just to ensure that I have the correct part. Thanks for the responses!

The valve stem is a serviceable replacement part that the TPMS sensor attaches to with a small screw. Literally any tire shop will have a suitable valve stem. Go to any Discount Tire, Tires Plus, Firestone, etc, maybe even a Walmart auto center, and ask for the valve stems for your car. You should be able to get them for less than $5 each.

Great, post up pics when you get the wheels mounted. And see, you learn something new everyday. :like:

Will do! I just finished the ceramic coating yesterday. My hands are ready to fall off with all those shapes.

As requested! They still need a wipedown and tire dressing, but I love the look!

When my buddy told me that he torqued them to 100 lb/ft, I laughed, and he didn't understand why. Broke out the torque wrench from my trunk and upped it to 150 lb/ft. He's used to dealing with Nissans and Infinitis, and didn't even think that a Mustang would need that kind of torque!
