I had never heard of Waze until I came across this thread. Just downloaded the app and will give it a try this week. Seems awesome.
I actually prefer Waze's maps to Google when driving. The graphics are bigger and more simple and doesn't show unnecessary road detail when you don't need it.

Relying on social media to know where the speed traps may be hiding is a lot like the old CB method. That's a big 10-4 good buddy!

I think you're going to really like it. On my last road trip, there were 5 cops speed trapping. Waze warned me of every one from a 1/2 away!

There are not near enough waze users in my neck of the woods and since the population is so low, cops are almost always mobile. My Escort 9500ix spots those guys way out there!

That would be a consideration for sure! My trip took me through Dallas & Fort Worth...it saved me several times!

In the Bay Area people even alert squirrels as roadkill haha racking up the waze points! Works in my opinion much better than radar detectors. Like a previous poster said its like the CB method. I haven't owned a radar detector in a long time, but from what I understand they're using laser now right? So they're not so useful anymore?

Theres a way to do to display your iphone on the MyFord Touch screen, which means you can put Waze on your 8” screen

I have been quite pleased with just a mount seeing how my iPhone 6+ is almost the same size as the MFT screen. Great replacement for the NAV and I can keep the MFT on the various other screens (entertainment, etc.). Plus I get the advantage of alerts for free.

I care about infotainment
Lots of fellow Wazers in South Florida so it's a very useful app down here. Granted, I know of all the speedtraps in my normal commute anyway so I just naturally slow down to 5-above when approaching those areas but I do use Waze for accident info, and will help others out with speedtraps and the like if it's not too distracting for me at the time.

Waze worked very well on my trip home from buying my car, Baltimore to Columbia, SC...mostly due to the fact I was on I-95 S for 80% of the trip.

Waze was worthless when I went to Destin, FL two weeks ago... I took the smaller highways and towns route to avoid Atlanta traffic. The combination of a low 1x cell signal off and on combined with around 0 other users led me to just turn it off and use Google Maps.

Why bother turning it off only to turn on google maps since it's primary purpose is navigation anyway?
