I am looking to buy a Mustang and I have been trying to get a feature list comparison b/w GT premium and Mach 1 premium but I don't see that anywhere on the ford website or google. I am familiar with the very elementary performance differences but apart from that don't see the additional list of things on Mach 1 premium.

Is there a resource where I can go and check the actual list of differences b/w the two trims that make them 14k apart? It would be great if someone can help. Thanks! :)

Hey Bay Area buddy! You're in San Jose so the Bay area premium should be relevant.

Intro Aside there are. A lot of Differences:

Standard Features on Mach 1 Premium vs Optional on GT Premium features below :
  • 1K Gas Guzzler Tax for MANUAL ONLY you can get rid of this by Picking Automatic Option
  • 6.3k Performance Package
  • 1.7k Magneride
  • 900 Active Exhaust
  • 2.2k 401 Package minus the Nav ($600 option on Mach 1)
    • AKA : Heated Steering Wheel, nicer leather seat design, Blind Spot monitor, Memory Seats, and Digital Dash.
  • You also don't get adaptive cruise control on the Mach 1 FYI.
So Essential breakdown for looking at M v M and A v A with MSRP vs MSRP
  • Premium Manual and Automatic with same options 6.3k+1.7K+900+2.2k = 11.1k in total options
    • Manual GT : 52.4k vs 55.5k + 1k Mach 1 Manual Gas Guzzler Tax 56.5-52.4 = 4.1k difference
    • Automatic GT : 54k vs 55.5k + 1.6k auto option which is 57.1-54k = 3.1K difference
  • Mach 1 Goodies your getting not found on your fully loaded GT Premium
    • Better tires (Michelin vs Pirelli) , cooling system for all the for track fluid goodies, 20 More Horsepower, and most of all resale value
    • In my opinion a better exhaust sound track and arguably nicer styled wheels, front end bumper, and grill.
    • Option for Track handling package which is an extra 3.5k for in my opinion the best looking wheels you can get on a 5.0, track Michelin tires and extra aero bits.
HOWEVER, since your in the Bay Area your looking at a good 5k Markup and ideally MSRP for a MACH 1 vs the 10-15% total discount with rebates on the Premium.

Thus making the ideal difference for our local dealership 3-4k for MSRP Mach 1 vs 6-9k difference for the discounted Fully Loaded Premium.

OF course the price difference can vary even more depending if you want all of those standard features on Mach 1 as an option on the Performance Pack, however the above would best describe the Apples to Apples comparison.

@Takeshi thanks a lot for your help. Decided to go with a Mach 1 with the HP. I am pretty sure I will never take it on track so I wonder if I am going to mess up the mileage by getting the HP. Any recommendations? :)

If the hp is why you're going with the Mach 1 it's not much of a reason. I have a 2019 premium GT and have the Ford Performance tune with the 87 throttle body plus larger CAI. Gives me the 480 and cost me $1300. Plus it kicks in an additional 42 ft/lbs of torque at 2000rpm and an overall increase of 18 ft/lbs of torque, and torque is what puts your fanny in the seat.

Oh, one other thing. Grew up in San Jose over on the west side near Campbell. I'll date myself by telling you that when I was a kid that area was mostly apricot and prune orchards. Then they paved the valley. Sad!

The HP has cup 2s, you will have to replace the tires every 8K to 10K tops. They cost $400 for the front and $4.50 rear. The spoilers, tires, wheels and adjustable camber plates are the only difference as far as I know. If by mileage you refer to gas mileage no difference.
6 speed 17, A10R80 18.

Jesus christ. Seriously? Replace all my tires every 10K miles. I am not taking on the track by the way - technically don't really need HP but damn those wheels look sick.

I guess these cars are not for n00bs like me.

If you went HP you could just remove the tires and sell them and put the Michelin pilot 4s on.

I originally ordered the hp and then changed it to non hp with the $395 upgrade wheels. Hp wheels are great but I like the upgrade wheels too.

You're going to love the HP. Really makes an impressive car stand out. The only part that could have a minor effect on gas mileage is the Gurney flap, but if this is really a consideration a 480HP V8 probably wasn't a good idea in the first place  .

As GotNotch said just replace the Cup2 tires with more street oriented ones and you will be fine.

By the way, what color? Please post pics when you get it.

Used to be a Bay Area person myself, grew up in Palo Alto, lived in Central SJ before moving to Austin Texas. Drive it up Page Mill Road to Skyline and come back down Saratoga, there is no road in Texas I have found that comes close. Go Sharks and go Giants.

Yeah, when I was in high school the drive up hwy 9 out of Saratoga was the drive. To hell with 17, 9 was the one everybody wanted to drive. Trouble was on the weekends someone was always believing it to be a scenic hwy and rubber-necking and driving slow. Lot of the accidents were because of impatience with that kind of driving. There just weren't that many places to pass safely, so some took the risk and paid for it. Still when you could find it on a day with light-traffic, you could have some fun.

I used to do highway 9 at night in my murdered out VW Rabbit, the problems started when I met a CHP officer...

The major reason I went with a M1 is the Tremec manual...if you are getting an A10, unless you are in love with the M1 styling, there's not a lot of reason to go M1 especially if it's not being tracked.
I agree, the main party trick is going to be the Tremec..... and I'd say that's a big one.

Yes, getting an auto eliminates one of the bigger differences between a GT and Mach 1.
If you don't care about the better manual trans, and the track ready cooling, it is hard to make a case for the Mach 1.

Personally I think it is a bit overpriced (too close to GT350 price, but too far from GT350 equipment), and that is before you consider the significant discount you can expect to get a GT for, verses no discount (or very little, or even ADM) for a Mach 1.
