I'm sure it varies by area, however here in the Chicago area the prices on used 2015 Mustangs are really high. Like only a few thousand below msrp new. When can we expect used prices to come down? Or are they going to get any lower at all?

It may be partly from a shortage of 5 gens. All the Ford dealers near me have a bunch of used S197s they can't/won't sell yet because they are waiting for replacement airbags.

The used prices here in AZ are very high as well. Went to the dealership this morning and they had a 2015 GT PP with 5700 miles for $31,000. I can get a brand new 2016 GT PP for that

My experience has been the dealers want more for a used vehicle than I can get a new one for. I guess folks pay it but I don't get it.

The used ones seem hard to come by. I've come across some killer deals but just haven't been in the position to buy yet. I want to have about $8k down so I don't have to pay $600 a month. There was a GT PP premium with recaros for sale for $33k and only 5500 miles. Crazy deal. Wish I had the cash ready. I've seen a few base GTs under $30k. But yeah pretty much no 13-14s for sale.

I've finally found an S550 I'm interested in and it's used. A little under 10k miles, and the asking price is $31.9k. Anyone know if that's a good deal? It's CPO as well (7 Year/100k mile powertrain)

GT Premium - Triple Yellow, Auto, 401A, Nav, Reverse System, Enhanced Security

My goal is to spend no more than 29k for a used GT Premium, but I'm greatly considering this if we can get the price down some more.

KBB seems to sit at 28.5-31.5k trade in on this car. I'm considering trading in my Vette as well depending on what I can get for it. They're just not negotiating much on the car right now...

$32k is decent deal. I wouldn't expect to find a premium under $30k from what I've been seeing. Base GTs are hovering at $29-30k. I haven't been looking at autos though. I always select manual in my searches.

I think you probably have a little room, but not much. I have been trying to find a good deal on a used one, either base or premium, manual. However, koons is cheaper for a new vehicle nine times out of ten. The best I have been able to do is 29.5 for a premium and 26.5 for a base, manuals. At the time koons had similar cars for 30.1 and 27.1. It seems I will likely end up just going new from them.

It's only been recently that dealers have decided that they can settle for less than MSRP on used 2011-2014's...

It's going to be a while. Used cars are the dealers fat cash cows, and they along with the service counter are where the dealerships make their bank.

I totally understand dealers selling them for high prices, because apparently they can. What is somewhat surprising to me is that there are enough people that pay more for a used car than what they could get a new one for.

It's a mindset with people

Used cars=money savers, generally. So instead of say...taking advantage of 2.9% financing through Ford Corp on a new car..they think they're actually saving money by going used.

Mind you, that is unless you're buying a used 2011/2012 for $23,000...then you really are saving money.

Don't know,

but if Kelly Blue Book values are any hint, it seems that the S550 drops pretty rapidly in value (at least here in the Pacific Northwest, where if it isn't a Honda or Toyota it sucks :frusty: ).

When my 2015 car got totaled out by the insurance company, it took about a $3,000 hit (according to their valuation tools), and this was after I argued with them over the fact that it was a performance package car ($1,995) and had an extra cost paint color (Ruby Red, $395). The car also had about 7,500 miles on it...The MSRP on the sticker was $28,310 (which I didn't pay  )

P.S. Their valuation tools go off wholesale prices (i.e. what a vehicle actually sells for).

I saw one 2015 Ecoboost Premium car w/automatic pop up at my local Ford dealer for an asking price of $28,000 (around Christmas). New, that car would have sold for around $34k...
