It started out OK then delved into propaganda.

Hello; From the link;
"The most significant reason Americans no longer have confidence in scientists is the abuse of power. "
"Unelected officials such as Anthony Fauci were given control over public policy and implemented changes that were damaging to American society. The American people recognized this power grab for what it was, and as a result the scientific community suffered."

It has some merit, but other sections are very slanted.

Hello; A thing is well done science has helped humans in so many ways. Made big differences in the quality of life for billions of people. Likely can continue to do so in the future. I could wax poetic, but such is not the point I am trying to make.

The article seems to have been written in anger to a degree. I get the anger. I was not a research scientist, only a public school science teacher. I peddled the good of science for a long time. I knew scientific discoveries were double edged in that they can be used for both good and bad. What has come to trouble me most of late has to do with what played out during the Covid times.

Not sure why I did not see some of the stuff before. I already knew partly how medicine had been tuned for profit. A close friend is a dentist. To keep his license, he has to get so many hours of approved "training" each year. I thought for years this was to keep up to date with tech and medical advances. Such were included in the training.
He told me some hours could be had about how the maximize profit for a practice. From the way an office is set up to how to prompt customers (patients) into extras for more income. I began to see how such worked.
I moved 14 years ago back to my childhood area and needed to find a new doctor. Started seeing a doctor whom i knew when he was a child. Decent enough doctor but a pattern emerged. He insisted on having blood drawn on nearly every visit in his office. I would get an extra bill from an area hospital every time. Decided to see a different doctor and that practice stopped.

Back to the point. Confidence in science in general and vaccine science took a big hit during the Covid pandemic. Rightly or wrongly lots of folks no longer have confidence in medical professionals. Too many top people in the medical field made a decision to stand with the corporate and official positions rather than honor their oaths. Guess they figured it was too risky to buck the powers that be. So, we were handed conflicting and contradictory information and edicts.
Contradictory information often from the same person over the weeks and months. Like somehow, we were expected have forgotten his recent proclamations when he came up with a new edict. OK so that is history and cannot be changed. A thing is he seems to have gotten away with it. Not that some sort of punishment on that particular fellow will change the past, but what about the replacements? What reasons will they have to be truer to the science rather than the preferred narrative?

There were a few, my sister to name one. Cost her her job at the time. Some on this board applauded that fact and called her a quack. Like the title to an AC/DC song, "She's got balls"

Science is generally a good thing, however they way it gets funded is flawed and most have slanted the "results" to reflect whatever agenda their funding wants.

Want to keep your job? Make a paper that says humans are causing global warming and it is a crisis.

I don't know how to fix the funding issue.

Hello; That is the real crux of the matter, I agree. The golden rule thing. He who controls the gold, rules.

You think another lab leak?

First one affects old people, the second one children?

Back in the summer of 2011 I bought my wife the truck of her dreams. It has been our family work horse since day one. but late last year we started thinking it was time to sell it and buy her a new one. The clear coat was peeling all over and the white paint was peeling on almost every panel. Well after searching for a replacement truck and being shocked at the prices that we would have to pay for a v8 4x4 half ton with posi, all the proper skid plats and would pull 9k+ all day without loosing its breath.

I decided to just fix the old one. So I bought the stuff to repaint myself and sanded and prepped my heart out and replaced all the door seals and any other worn items including some worn bushings. Now here it is all done and ready to keep her happy for a few more years and look good while doing it. Total cost of all the tools and parts was just under 2500 bucks. I did all the labor

Two deaths tied to recalled cantaloupe, CDC says (msn.com)
Hello; Years ago i started washing cantaloupes before cutting them. I used dish soap and cold water then a good rinse off. Afraid I did not read the details of this so if the bacteria is inside the melons will not help.
