So, like other mustang owners my car makes noises. creaks, rattles you name it. However, in the process of discovering a leak in my car (still haven’t found the source but suspect a 3rd break light) i removed the rear seat as water was under it.

After driving around with the rear seat out I started hearing a noise when turning that i could only describe as a ball bearing being rolled across a tile floor. I’ve attempted to use magnets and a snake light on top of the fuel tank after removing the fuel pump dust cover but haven’t seen anything out of the ordinary there…

I also just filled up my tank and when turning the sound is gone. I only heard the sound previously at a half tank or less. Really hoping something isn’t in my tank but it’s starting to seem like it’s the only logical explanation. Any ideas? video of sound attached as i turned the car left and right down my street.

Pull the rubber covers on each side and see if a foreign object has found its way inside and is rolling around on top of the fuel tank.

Wow! You don't hear that with the back seat in? Amazing! Pull the fuel pump and put your magnet in there!

Having just had my pump out of the car, I can see how this would be a possibility. It does move and bounce up and down very freely. Low fuel level and bumpy roads would be the perfect storm.

Yep, that's what it sounded like to me.
