Are your ‘real world’ values measured in the same way as the official test and not to sound like an arse, using good (dare I say calibrated) equipment ?

I’m all stock but my god I love this car, it's loud as hell and sounds god like. So much smog comes out of it I don't even know how it is ulez compliment
Smog, on a new standard car … ?

I’m seriously getting between 4.5 MPG and 8 MPG, only using premium petrol.
Between 59 and 106 miles to a tank (if my maths is correct), on a standard car, on U.K. roads (i.e. no track) and you are still running in (i.e. not reving it out) … ?

V5C showingReal world
U197I'm Idling between 80-95/98db in neutral, revving to 5500 RPM is over 105 DB. Will test it at 7450 RPM when breaking in is completed Q2/Q3
U368I don't even know how they got this number - I'm getting the same in as U1 when driving.

I cant even get lower then 74db inside of the cab
U23750
V10.383

I'm all stock but my god I love this car, it's loud as hell and sounds god like. So much smog comes out of it I don't even know how it is ulez compliment, but my god it's epic - My friends 911's, AMG's & ferraris sound like a mouse talking.

Spoke to a friend of mine who's got a M1 in the US and we compared our sounds readings - they are pretty much the same within a margin of error based on local conditions .

I'm seriously getting between 4.5 MPG and 8 MPG, only using premium petrol. I mean SMG smiles per gallon. Friend in the US is getting 15mpg.

that's how I assume they are tested with the new WLT standard or whatever it is called - that how they have all been tested before in standard for sounds.
I love my car too. I store my car alongside some epic cars. However, if I'm ever fortunate enough to buy one of those other cars, I still would not sell my M1. It's special, especially here in the UK.

Yes, but not type 1 Might get a type 1 recorder when some sales happen. V5C has it listed as EURO 6AP standards - Can't find much information on it. However was tested as would be tested by the police using the Roadside Vehicle Noise Measurement
  • Police limits for roadside values are: Type approval level + 10 dB
    • U1 is 97 + 10% = total = 106.7
    • U2 is same calculation
    • Car would be required when stationary to be revved and held at 3,725 RPM for a prosecution it would have to be 107.7 DB or higher - Since the Mach 1 is as categorised in the M brand.
    • Just FYI I did the tests about 3ft away from the sides and rear (Didn't do the front due to rain starting)
    • These are based the manual, Auto is different - not sure what the numbers are, U2 is higher (72db) but not sure about U1 @2021 Mach 1 What's your U1 showing in the V5C? curious

Car hasn't really been far, it's too cold and weather is rubbish - still less than a 100 Miles on it. Right now with a full tank it's showing 150Miles until empty

if I'm ever fortunate enough to buy one of those other cars,
No if about it, push yourself. If you really want it, your do it.

Seems like a lot of expense for little gain, especially when you appear to have been encouraging others not to mess with the standard system ? (so I am assuming you aren't ?)

I know the feeling, due to a combination of holiday, Christmas, weather and salted roads, mine hasn't turned a wheel since the start of December ... (and I'm itching to mess around with the new setup :giggle:).

I'm not sure you can really make blanket statements about MPG yet with only 100 miles on it. I'm guessing the first 10 to 20 of that would have also been at the dealer which would have included lots of idling ?

Your 150 range (based on my experience) is about normal for me and I don't let the car purposely idle. The lowest I have seen after brimming the tank was 135 and the highest being 179. Note that the 135, 150 and 179 numbers quoted all give considerably better mpg than you quoted :like:

Just as a side note - I've recently been in a 500 that's driven very hard and its range to empty was showing as 75 miles (on a full tank). I do wonder if 75 is the hard deck for the algorithm that calculates the value as I was in that car from full to empty, which takes between 22 and 23 minuets ... !!! (that equates to about 40 miles per tank) 😲

You didn't comment about your smog - what's going on with your car as its kicking out smog ?

Mines a daily so gets driven in all weather and still looks pretty good after 4 years with only hand washing using Turtle wax.

My range is usually over 400 miles, over the last 4k miles of so I have averaged 30.6mpg

I know I'm fighting a losing battle, but I'm trying to delay the inevitable / keep it better than new :

I still have a bit of cleaning to do under there and some more shiny red bits to bolt on ... :like:

Yeah I'm well aware people will be getting considerably more than me, I was questioning the 4.5 to 8mpg figures that were getting quoted (on a new road car that isn't being reved out yet and is also producing smog) :like:

From the article:

"Road noise is known to contribute to health problems, such as heart attacks, strokes and dementia, and the annual social cost of urban road noise, including lost productivity from sleep disturbance and health costs is estimated to be up to £10 billion."

Nice to see our friends from across the pond have the same kind of sensationalism as the US. I like to refer to statements like this as from "the department of just making shit up".

tbh having lived in an area being used as a sound pit by idiots with loud exhausts i dont see what the problem is with getting said idiots' cars and hopefully said idiots themselves, off the roads. I'm sure if the locals dont like the scheme they will vote to get it removed. Job done.

Not sure why you replied to my comment? I did not state an opinion on the policy, I only commented on one ridiculous statement used to justify it.

Looks like an opinion? :like:

Wasn't aware that people had to get permission from you to respond ?

Did I say you couldn't reply to my comments? Do you have 2 accounts? I quoted and replied to raptor17gt not you.

Nor did I expressed an opinion about the ordinance, I only commented on a BS statement to justify it.

None of this was directed to you.

It seems you don't like responses to your posts for some reason - I suggest you click ignore for all users then you can just crack on and talk to yourself

i replied to your comment based on the bit where you did state an opinion. You commented on one part of entire background and reasoning which i presume is the bit that allows you to state your maybe biased thoughts on the process rather than learn the full reasons behind such camera enforcement.

I've also read that statement re accounts on other threads on here and those threads quickly descend into bickering and he said she said so I'll just engage the forum rules that says use the ignore function. 3.2.1..

Again, that is not what I said. Why don't you actually reply to my question? You had no problem quoting and commenting on my post when it had nothing to do with your reply. But now that I call you out on it, you resort to this?

Also, you have a 60% reaction to post score based on your profile. I have a 124%, I think it's fair to say I don't have a problem with responses to post.

I've never ignore anyone on this site since I signed up. I don't have a problem with differing opinions and enjoy open conversation. But when you distort what I say, or quote me with comments that have nothing to do with the quote, I'm going to call you out on it.

So I'll ask for a 3rd time now, how does my opinion of a statement of cost have anything to do with the noise ordinance?

I'm about to try and change that. After being retired for many years, I'm going back to work. I'm going to try and fill up a big garage!

Separately, I'm normally showing 240 miles range on a full tank.
