From what I've read so far, it's a £50 fine.

It's a civil matter, it's operated by the local authorities, so no points. - Best way to challenge this is with legal if the local authority considers it too loud. - From what I understand they do not have set of defined parameters, which creates a very interesting legal loophole instead of having a defined parameter, the operator is one who actually determines if said car is too loud. Every human has a natural bias.

What is very important is how that car is being driven though that noise camera. If it is driven in someway that is defined as anti-social then any legal defence is likely too fail.

However, the police do have the right to stop you at any time if they believe the car is too loud and is considered in some way anti-social. They can issue, fine, points, warnings and an order that said car is returned to stock, they have no legal duties to use a decibel machine contrary to popular belief.

-- DO NOT TAKE THIS AS LEGAL ADVICE, CONTACT A LAWYER FOR ANY QUESTIONS & IF/WHEN YOU GET CAIUGHT --

The war on motorists continues to limit movement and increase revenue but don’t worry in the future you will own nothing and you will be happy!
Well if you use any operating system, mobile device, application or anything which is created by pixels you don't own it along with any data. Same can be said with use of any Intellectual property, ferrari vs deadmau5 is a great example.

I do wonder what the revenue potential vs cost is for these noise cameras vs speed cameras? Any car can speed, but only a very small percentage of cars can likely trigger a noise violation. Speed cameras cost roughly £40,000 to install from what I've read.

Does anyone know the DB levels of a standard facelift mustang in the various exhaust modes ?

I know 'Track' comes with a dash warning so I assume that broke whatever level was legal at the time of sale.

How about that fiasco with the manuals being removed from the offering as they broke noise levels but the auto didn't - did that problem simply go away or did Ford alter the exhaust modes to tone them down a little ?

How about the Bullitt's and the Mach's - are they louder or just of a different tone ?

Just trying to gauge where I fit into all this and knowing that by ear (I know, that's very subjective), now the H pipe is fitted the new normal is more like the old track (or maybe a hybrid with sport).

The Steeda YouTube video looking at H and X pipes had all the modes including stock measured.

I believe they are on USDM cars (no GPF) and measured differently to what we might be judged against ?

Mostly likely, you are correct. Was just offering it up as at least some sort of baseline. Thankfully, my mufflers and resonator are 100% stock.

That was just down to the way the car is tested for type approval - different for manual and auto.

This may help with some of the other stuff but a modified exhaust is very likely to be an offence - see what the paperwork said that came with it. The standard exhaust in track mode doesn't comply as you suggest.

H0504 Procedure - Loud Exhaust Offences | Essex Police

In the UK where sites are active it seems the loudest recorded so far is 111db! It is easy to get it checked at any track day site where they can check the exhaust for you.
