VIN's seem to be all over the place.
They really shouldn't be as they are assigned in sequence number when the car is "ready" to be built, so roughly two weeks before the build is due to start. Of course there could be delays, but in general the cars coming off the line (whether LHD, RHD, US, Export) should be in rough VIN sequence number (last 6 digits)

Once off the line is when the fun and games start - there seem to have been extra QA checks on all export models, followed by a trip to the "outfitters", then they get parked, then loaded on a rail car to the docks, then parked, then put on a ship to Zeebrugge, then parked, then customs checked, then parked, then undercoated, then parked, then loaded on a ship to Southampton, then parked, then loaded on a transporter and delivered to the dealer, who is then surprised it has turned up, then parked, then PDI'd, and only then can you collect it.

Simple logistics really. :headbonk:

Yeah but mine is made on 11/12/15 so, they made a lot of cars in between?
Probably not for UK at least, as plant shut down on the 22nd.
Remember, when they're building RHD they're doing Aus as well.
rusgb that says STIB to be :lol:. And VINs just seem to be all over the place for me, i think i'm just missing something and someone doesn't wanna tell me 'part' of the vin, or i'm getting ahead of myself.
deep south explains it pretty well regarding the logistics, it's a bit of a fanfare really. Yes exports go through a LOT more quality assurance checks than US cars and Andy Confirmed this, which is good, some of the US ones from reviews etc have shoddy panneling, and we all know competing with merc and audi who are relativley meticulous with their releases requires more attention to detail. I'd sooner have a car with proper panneling and a bit extra wait time than having to send it back, i'm already losing my car for a week after it comes for a wrap :frusty:

Just had an email from Karen Batt, confirming my build next week

I think Ford UK have started to turn round the poor customer service from what it was to giving us a very good service, at least for those on here and other forums.

So 13 weeks to go :D

Lone Survivor Congrats mate! Just checked my email, no updates :'(.

Well, in terms of customer service, it's taken someone from the top to change it up, I assume dealers are becoming more 'aware' of the standards they should be held to, and this is more of a 'new process' for everyone at ford, with the brand weight a mustang holds vs a mondeo

Sorry to get off topic but did anyone see the BBC news at lunchtime? Our friend Andy was interviewed and there was also a Mustang. This video is different from the one that was on the news but Andy is still in it http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-35249937. The other video I would assume would be on again at teatime or even 10pm.

National, I had just switched over halfway through it. It was just a general piece about high car sales in the UK, nothing to do with the Mustang.

I haven't noticed a change at dealer level. He still thinks mine's being built in March; it was built 29th Dec! Not a peep from him and I'm not telling him. The info through Stacey though is a sudden and welcome leap in performance; and a suddenly a lot more contentment on these forums.

I agree, dealers need some training. I get that they're busy, but there's a reason they get commision, it's to be the first point of contact for the customer, and all their queries, i know most wont be used to having to deal with a customer for over 6 weeks (usual small car turn around time), not 13 months !

Yeah, the dealer customer service is woeful, well Evans Hallshaw Glasgow has been at least. From telling me on 13 Nov that my car was built, then handing me a print out 2 minutes later with a build date of 18 Jan 16 and that I couldn't change the spec, is just unforgivable and attrocious.

I'm not wanting to change the spec, but I had specifically asked when was the spec to be 'locked' in?

As has been said before, it's with thanks to Andy Barratt that things have changed, if I was him though, my next target would be the franchising team, they need to sharpen up their standards before awarding some dealerships a franchise.

Overall, I've been very patient, had no other choice really and, to be fair, it looks like I'm getting my car earlier. Pity the dealership hasn't contacted me once, without prompt from me, since I placed my deposit back in May, it's just so, so.....well, rude!! and ill mannered.

Hopefully it'll get to a point whereby it will only take 12-14 weeks from order to delivery for future buyers.

Nice
Lone Survivor, Yep, i agree, or at least train them not to be incompetant before-hand. My salesman isn't as bad as some, but he's hardly as good as others i've seen, obviously I assume he'll be more 'on-it' when he starts seeing some money about to come his way, I've personalyl relied on Andy's updates, Karens Emails and now this Email adress and my dealer is so hard to get a hold of and nobody else in that dealership has a clue about mustangs. I'm pretty sure I could walk in there and be their specific mustang salesman. :headbonk:. Actually, scratch that, i 110% could. Judging by their current 'Specialist Mustang Salesmen' I must look like a bl00dy phd in mustangs, and that's still nowhere near the knowledge of others like Twin Turbo
