It appears mine works even with the keys gone and the door locked. Is this correct? I guess if I ever need to leave it outside Ill disable the remote function on the house control.

Yes, seems that way so if you have a convertible, don't leave the top down.

My Escape times out after ten minutes. I assumed the Mustang did also. Guess I should double check.

Almost, all the cars I've owned, the universal garage openers are always powered.
First time for me
I have to check my wife's Cadillac

Double checked, key in the house and sure enough the door opened. This was with the car unlocked.

If you lock your car, it will time out after about ten minutes. This is great and my bad for not testing more thourghly earlier.

so you're saying someone can break into your car and open the garage door without a key?

Old fashioned garage door openers also work the same way...

Well thats a huge safety issue, I usually park in garage but when it snows i usually leave my car outside. Now someone can get access to our homes if they get into our cars?
Someone from ford needs to address this if this is true, It would really cause me to think twice about accepting my car in two weeks.
Deysha?

My car stays inside but on the rare occasion it doesn't I can disable all remotes on both openers via the door control. But yeah ...I wonder what they were thinking on that one??

You don't have to use the feature....

Might have been thinking they did not want to end up with a $80k car.

Corners were definitely cut... but I paid 33k for a new convertible... I'll accept my interior creaks for now... and hope the dealer can take care of them when I get a chance to take it in.

Maybe if enough complain they will issue a recall on your issue...

I do have to use the feature. I paid for it. Doesn't matter if it's a bmw or a civic or shouldn't allow someone access to your home. My wife's explorer doesn't do it neither should mine.

You are right... I agree with you.... you should not accept your car and get an Explorer... that way all features will work EXACTLY the same.

Issue solved. :D
