So how many people are crossing the S550 off their list because of this turning radius?

Not me ! I'll just drive straight to the back of the parking lot and happily reverse into a spot in peace :D

No more of this "I've got a good turning radius , I can park anywhere and do anything !" Crap.

Instead of looking for the best parking space up front , i can just put my mind at ease . No slinging the wheel to the left 100 times to park in that one spot....just head to the back, use the whole lot , reverse and park :p

Kidding obviously , but nope not a factor to me. Realistically i know some places where it might be a slight pain (tight shopping centers ). But we'll see when i drive it !

People who don't know how to park.

I work on Mercedes for a living and we are required to back the cars into their parking spots. Over the years I've perfected the skill so I can park an S-Class or GL just as easily as an SLK or my Mustang. What I have definitely noticed is that people who back into parking spots put much more thought and effort into parking properly versus the people who just pull straight into a spot and don't care how crooked they are.

Sure there are times when it isn't possible to back in but I would much rather wait for a car in front of me to back into a spot than wait for a blind and oblivious driver(view blocked by neighboring cars) to back out of a spot and possibly hit me.

I fucking hate when people drive around looking for a close spot... WHY? All lazy pieces of shit.

Back of lot forever!

I always park far away from disrespectful "Door Bangers".

Two reasons:

Keep my ride looking like it did when I parked it.

Exercise, especially when pushing a grocery cart full of food & adult beverage's up a hill (my favorite grocery is at the bottom of a Hill) then returning it all the way back into the store, not the lot cart area.

I was suggesting a solution that I personally implement that solves the problem my post was talking about.

I'm not happy about a larger turning radius, I'd like it to be smaller, but it's such a minor issue. I never made the oversteer claim, but if you want my take on it. Wider tires in the front grip better around corners, wider tires in the front can't turn as far without rubbing on something. So it's a minor loss of turning radius for a gain of front end grip.
That makes sense, and i can buy into that. Like i said i'm not crying foul over the lost turn radius. More like "dang we lost ground there. sure wish i could have kept that but i guess i have to give a little to gain a little"

I do. I guess following the "wtf are you talking about" with "im just messing with you" doesnt excuse it? I was really only kidding and had hoped that follow up would make that clear.

@Divinestrike
I hope you can accept my sincerest apology. I meant no offense and was earnestly joking. I hope you can forgive my foolishness and hypocrisy.
P.S. there is no sarcasm in this message.

"i dont take all day to back in. I whips it!" sounds a lot like your trying to make fun of me attempting to make my posts vocabulary more interesting. No hard feelings though, I'm solid with myself.
Again here i was being silly. I don't see how you took that away from my post. Nothing you said used that type of wording. And it's not like you typed anything using huge words out of a thesaurus so that maybe you would have thought i was sarcastically making fun of you. I really dont know how you got that. Even more so at this point i wasnt even addressing you i was addressing Divinestrike... Not sure how you came to be offended by that.

Maybe it does take twice as long to back in, 2-3sec to pull in forward vs 5sec to back in. but 2.5sec is still a fraction of time longer, and it's made up when leaving. I turn the wheel once to line myself up then back straight in while making slight corrections to the wheel to center myself.

I think it's a wonderful solution to many problems, Elderly women who are moments from death may take longer to back in, they do take longer when they back out in front of you. Your normal individual should have no problem.
Good point here. I and other had a bit of tunnel vision. That can even back out. Got it.

Its funny but I will watch people do this, proceed to park out in the boondocks myself and I still manage to beat them inside the door after they jack around looking for a "close" spot.

It was clear you were joking with DS, and that was who your "I'm just messing with you" statement was toward, that was clear you were just joking with him.

you then followed it up with:
i dont take all day to back in. I whips it!
that was the part that seemed aimed at my post:

I once whipped into a parking spot backwards so fast, a guy in oncoming traffic gave me a thumbs up, why does it take a long time to back up?
thats why I quoted that specific sentence.

It ain't nothin' but a thing, chicken wing. It's all good
[it just] sounds a lot like your trying to make fun of me attempting to make my posts vocabulary more interesting.

How did this turning radius even become an issue?

I have driven everything from MRAPs (yes Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) to Tractor trailers, Marine 7 Tons, duece and a halfs, 5 tons, HEMMTTs, M1 Tanks, Strykers, HMMWVs, cars, trucks, motorcycles, go-karts, skateboards and my naked feet.

Not once did the turning radius or lack thereof become an issue after that first initial drive. I could jump in anyone of those vehicles again and park and turn around with precision easily.

Considering we are going to be owning these Mustangs how will this really affect you after the first few drives. Once you know what your car can do there shouldn't be any situation where this "radius" will hinder you. I know exactly what I can do in my 6 Series. I haven't ran up on a parking space yet that I wanted to get in and couldn't. I haven't had to make all these adjustments to get in any spaces either.

For the life of me I really cannot understand how this turning radius is even a consideration on a Mustang.

Most of communication is nonverbal, but all we have to communicate on these forums are words. ::hug:: Thats why no one should take what anyone says too harshly, too easy to mis-communicate.

As far as turning radius, I don't notice it in any vehicle I'm driving unless I have to flip a U-turn, but I've gotten quite good at flipping female dogs in large vehicles. Unless it's on a residential street, then it becomes a 3-point, but such is life.
