Im new to the mustang life and I want start modding a 2017 mustang gt but I am not sure who or where to go to for a custom tune I already have an unmarried SCT tuning device from a previews car. Also planning purchasing new header and exhaust but I do not know which would give the best performance and not sounding to raspy. I also planning on getting a k&n CAI but I'm all ears if people have better suggestion regarding CAI as well.

Thank you for your time.

Lund tune, JLT CAI. Also look into getting an E85 tune or a flex fuel tune. Other tuners to look at: VMP, AED, Palm Beach Dyno.
Headers and exhaust you better ask around because once you upgrade to a catback and then get into headers... Your catback may sound like shit at that point. When folks go headers that often weld in some kind of resonator to tone it down and make it sound better. The headers can take a good catback and make it sound bad and ungodly loud. You could start a whole new thread just for headers/exhaust opinions hahaha.

Most seem to agree that a CAI on these cars do little for performance, more for looks. As for the SCT, i kept mine from a 15 GT I traded in. I connected to my computer and updated the firmware since it was 4 years old. All good. Plugged into my 19 GT. it downloaded more files which turned out to be free 19 canned tunes. Skeptical I e-mailed SCT to confirm, and yes. free tune for stock car. I loaded the 93 octane tune and I am pleased with it. Maybe you should give that a try while deciding on a custom tune. Congrats and welcome!

I would recommend doing a lot of reading on sub-forums and going from there. Generally a lot of folks here are pretty cool so if you have a specific question PM them and most will get back to you.

Good luck OP and be safe out there. YouTube is full of people with similar intentions lol.

That I'm not sure of. I've never dealt with VMP. I can tell you don't bother with Bama tunes. When I switched to Lund it was night and day. Idk how VMP works, but I can tell you if you get a flex tune from Lund you also get a straight E85 tune with it. The E85 tune is bonkers in comparison. It took me a year on the flex tune before I even tried the E85 tune. Why did I wait so long... haha

Other mods you could consider later are larger injectors and intake manifold. But with the manifolds it's more about optimizing the powerband to your liking. For example, the 18 manifold, GT350 and Cobra Jet will breathe way more at high RPMs (i.e. past 6500 and on) that will ultimately make your car faster in the long run. My advice would go with a CAI which will also help your engine breathe a little bit at higher RPM - and a 93, flex, or E85 tune. The flex and E85 tunes will shove the timing in especially down low where this car needs it. And with ethanol, instant protection against engine knock! :like:

I also heard that Bama was a bit rough with tunes but ok ill take a look at Lund, is there something on their website that offer tunes or would i have to email them? I don't live near any gas station that offer E85, 93 the highest grade i got here soooooo flex fuel it is lolol. Yea i was going to get a ported 2018 intake manifold, i liked it better compared from the rest and i was getting a 87mm throttle body as well. wait ethanol protected against engine knock?
Also I was leaning into getting a roush catback cause I had one from my previews car and I like how it sounded, and the finish material was pretty legit, granted it didn't have longtube headers so I have no clue if it would sound. I haven't been able to find someone with header and the roush catback yet

Forget the 87mm TB. They're hard to tune for and the drivability will usually be poor and basically zero gain. I have a ported 18 manifold and love it.
Yes you can go right on Lund's website, Lund Racing.

Ethanol protects against engine knock yes, because the high octane. It also has a cooling effect to the intake charge vs. Gasoline. With E85 NA you basically can't get knock unless its false knock.
