quick question, if you have sync 3, does the traffic flow show up on your screens to show light or heavy traffic and is it part of the sirius xm package? On my bmw theres no charge and I can see green for no traffic and red for heavy traffic, even without inputting a destination.
On my wifes explorer she had to pay for it after the trial but it never worked so we cancelled. hopefully car play will be out soon and it won't matter either way.
thanks

Yes.. On fords this is done through satellite .. As far as I know though all new fords are including a 5 year trial for travel link and traffic.. BMW is nice.. It pulls the info from HD radio signal on cars with the older navs.. But the modern cars like 13-14 up have a new Nav.. And they pull it from a cellular signal.. And it is part of the package BMW offers.. It isn't free.. It's just active as long as your factory warranty is valid.. Once you warranty is out you have to subscribe to BMW office I think it is called .. And it is CRAZY expensive per yer.. But includes the ability to remote lock and unlock your car from your phone and send destinations to your car..

Yes you get travel and traffic for 5 years if you maintain a Sirius radio subscription. When my radio trial expired so did travel and traffic. Went around and around with Sirius to no avail. I got deer in the head lights looks from Ford.

Well.. Sirius sat radio is the worst company in the world to call for customer service.. I've never dealt with worse.. I hate them.. But when my subscription went my travelink was still fine.. But you'll get a letter in the mail soon.. 5 months for 20$..

For the Sync3 Car Play or Apple Car support we will have to wait until towards end of the year for it kick in. They announced at CES that the 2017 Sync3 will be built-in for both Android and Apple iOS. But for 2016 owners we have to wait a little bit longer.
