Check Lockton. The reputable companies will catalog events that they cover and make a plan specifically for that event or event group.
I have used Lockton the last few times. If the event is not on their list, I just drop them a note and they added the event.
But they don't do a one day policy. I sent them a note asking why they didn't offer one-day coverage and they essentially said they didn't have to as no one else did.

They have no way of assessing your risk one day versus 3 because the on track time varies so much between events.

I read my NY policy it has no exclusion (or mention of the track)
looks like you get to roll the dice then, interesting, i thought all personal policies from every company excluded racing unless you have a fancy custom tailored policy. however i only handle western states so i am not familiar with eastern and mid west policies.

Hmm I might need to make an anonymous call LOL. I really think in NY state they cant exclude it. Haggerties wouldnt cover me because they told me even with track insurance they were not allowed by NY law to not cover the car (They had a term for it I cant remember). In some states the could how ever.

My policy has no exclusion except for driving under the influence.

My insurance agent said track use is only excluded from the body injury section of the policy. She said by law they have to cover you for liability.

I asked her if they would fix my car. She said they are taught they wont but the policy doesn't explicitly exclude it. So in her opinion they would fix my car and then drop me.

She also said if they know you are on the track they will drop you, so if you have a incident and the other insurer pays out if they found out they will drop you.

So with all that said what is paying 350 - 410 for insurance really buying me?

You are in a catch 22. i'd want it in writing, but if you try to get that, you'll get dropped.

I'd say track insurance would get you peace of mind, and the ability to buy DD insurance in the future unaffected by any on track claims.

With my other two track cars including my 15 Ecoboost with every upgrade imaginable I didn't buy insurance. I didnt really care about the car as much.

With the GT350 I've been using RLICORP and they have been very easy to work with.

I won't race without their policy.

My biggest concern is getting rear ended or hitting someone who spins on the track.

I like knowing that I'm covered and is worth every penny to me. The time I don't get it will be the time a S2K loses his brakes and takes me out lol

Update there is some document that excludes track use, but it isnt listed on my policy document. My broker is sending me a copy. But it seems like a slight of hand, this document says you arent covered but the one we send you with your policy doesnt mention it.

I guess ill stick with track insurance.

God forbid anything happens, but if it does you'll be able to sleep much easier.

I went off in my first race car about 5 years ago at 120+. My car flew over a mountain and hit a gutter. The chassis bent. Luckily I had a cage, hans etc. car was toast and had to part it out.

It was a real eye opener that if I spent the 200ish dollars for that car I would have gotten a nice check.

Instead I had to spend months stripping the car.

So you guys all buy track insurance when you track your cars ? I find track days expensive as they are for what you get (300-400 USD / day) .... If you add insurance, 700 bucks per event seems like eye watering to me..

I just drive sensibly and stay away from trouble when traffic is ramping up. I usually go through pits and let traffic go past me if I am nervous ?

Insurance, hotel, gas, track entry and food it's roughly 7-800 an event not including consumables like brakes, fluids and tires.

I do 6-10 events a year so it can add up. This is my only hobby so I justify the cost.

You can drive as sensibly as you want but everyone knows it doesn't prevent you from getting hit while sitting at a stop light.

Last year a Miata boiled his fluid and plowed into a F430 at one of my local tracks. They were livid but when you get to the track you sign a waiver.

I know plenty of Porsche guys who have had similar stories. I've been looking for a company who provides a street and track policy for years with no luck.

True that. I just don't pay hotel; If it's not under 2 hours driving distance, me no going :)

My normal cost is 250 a day for the track 400 insurance and maybe 3 tanks of gas. So 750 Just to get there drive and go home. If my SO comes you can take another 100 on for food. Id probably say another 200 in consumables conservatively. so 950 a day? I original thought to do weekends but I think now ill try to do one day events with more time.

I have 4 tracks within 4 hours of me and 7 tracks within 6ish hours of me.

If I can't drive there within 2 hours of home I stay the night before. I rough it in the cheap motels, 50 bucks a night and split it with other track friends.
